South Sydney have suffered a huge blow during the pre-season as it’s been revealed Greg Inglis is battling a new flare up of an old knee injury and is on light duties.

The Rabbitohs skipper was sidelined for most of the 2017 season after having a full reconstruction of the left knee, but the injury has resurfaced to rule him out of the remainder of the pre-season.
The 32-year-old is now unlikely to play any trial matches — the first of which is against the Panthers at Redfern Oval on February 23.
It also rules him out of contention to play for the Indigenous All Stars against the Maori team on February 15. Inglis will not need surgery but the timing was less than ideal.

Inglis’s injury will likely open the door for Alex Johnston to resume his role as fullback — a situation that was under threat with Inglis declaring his preference to play at No.1 in 2019. However, new recruit Corey Allan will also be gunning for the job.

...

Can anyone else hear that? That's the sweet sound of karma.

His knees are shot, should have retired this year but ego of not being the start of the show meant he couldn't.

Isn't that the one you use to depress the clutch in a manual vehicle. Damned delayed reaction took a whole five months....

Well I'm really concerned by this. So he can't play a few meaningless trials (huge blow?), but I really do hope beyond hope he can still get out there on that speed boat the Storm gave him. By 'light duties', I assume this means he only has to give Todd 1 handy a day, and not the regular 3 or 4.

It's only his knee, not his wrist.
