As great as the old music is, the new Australian bands and singers should get praise as well. Bands, Singers and DJs like Tame Impala, Empire of the Sun, Rufus, The Temper Trap and Flume spreading some amazing tunes and songs around the world at the moment.

30 years later and I still have a crush on Tucker's daughter lol
It's also the only song I know of that features Narrabri.

Every time I drive through it (just as I will twice in the next few weeks), that song pops into my head.

As for the daughter? I have done an exhaustive google search, that give me nothin'.

Here in Brisbane and SEQ, many great bands have been born, to name a few:

The Go-Betweens (there is even a bridge that nobody uses named after them).
Powderfinger
Savage Garden
Regurgitator
The Saints
The Veronicas
Sheppard (tell me, you've never said "hey, Geronimo!")
Indecent Obsession (ok, maybe not so much)...

But there is a new group on the block, from the Sunny Coast... You must be living under a rock if you haven't heard this, but I present to you: The Chats:

Men at Work - Down Under is what I think of when someone says "best Aussie song".

But there are so many good Aussie bands both now and in the past.

I also love AC/DC.. She Shook Me All Night Long..outstanding..

One of the best sounding intro / verses I reckon.

Pretty sure they featured it in Supernatural at one stage too.

Who?? heheh just kidding... wifey listens to TripleJ too! You left out Chet Faker.

A few I'm into..

The Butterfly Effect (brilliant live)

Birds of Tokyo

Orpheus Omega (and they are a real cool bunch of guys too.. very appreciative of their fans)
Saw them live before Trivium.. Absolutely killed it...
If it doesn't give you a metal boner... nothing will

FMD, I listened to this in about 1983 coustesy of my older sister's cassette collection.

You old man :grinning:
You got no say in it (my age)

lol I first heard of this band when one of my friends in highschool mentioned the lead singer from Machinations lived next door him. I looked up some of their songs from there.

How have we gone this far without: Mammal or 12 Ft Ninja (who honestly I don't get - to me they are trying too hard to be a Mike Patton / Karnivool coverband.. plus too gimmicky) getting a mention??

Mammal

12 Ft Ninja

not to mention.. Powderfinger

and Superheist!!!!

and who can forget Sunk Loto
