Police, NRL investigating alleged incident involving George Burgess
The Dragons have confirmed incoming forward George Burgess is being investigated by police after an alleged road incident.
NSW Police and the NRL are investigating an alleged incident involving footy star George Burgess.
The Sydney Morning Heraldreports Burgess was on the NSW south coast earlier this week when he got out of his vehicle after noticing another person in a truck was filming him and allegedly took their phone off them
St George released a statement on Wednesday saying: “St George Illawarra are aware of an alleged road incident involving 2022 recruit George Burgess.
“The NRL integrity unit have been informed.
“As the police are currently investigating the matter, the Dragons will be making no further comment at this stage.”
Burgess signed a two-year deal with the Dragons and is set to join the club for the 2022 season.

Burgess signed a two-year deal with the Dragons and is set to join the club for the 2022 season.
The 29-year-old, who played alongside brothers Sam, Luke and Tom at South Sydney, left the Rabbitohs at the end of 2019 and moved back home to England to play for Wigan in the UK Super League.
A hip injury hampered his time there and he underwent season-ending surgery before being released.
Off-contract in England, Burgess signed a two-year deal to return to the NRL with the Dragons. The club trumpeted the deal only a couple of weeks ago.
St George general manager of football Ben Haran said of Burgess’ signing: “George will make a significant contribution to us here at the Dragons on and off the field; his experience and career achievements will only have a positive influence on the development of the younger players currently within our squad.
“While he has some obstacles still to overcome following his well-documented surgery, our medical staff have already commenced working with George on his rehabilitation.
“Everyone is committed to helping George get back to his fighting best ahead of the 2022 season, but no person more than George himself. We’re looking forward to him and his family joining the club.”
Burgess has played 149 NRL games and was at Souths when they won the premiership in 2014.
