Food combos/inventions

Brother and Sisters... January 6 is the, Epiphany, the day the 3 Kings visited Jesus offering the gifts Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.

To celebrate, annually, Lebanese people from right around the world bake what are known as "Awamat" or, Lebanese Doughnuts. Now, they are not exactly doughnuts though, more like dough balls. They are fried and covered in syrup, service crunchy.

My goodneess this is something I look forward to every year.

What is Myrrh it seems like that bloke skimped on the present..

What makes the nougat Iranian?

PS fuck Iran lol
Just the way they made it. I tried it once and it was the worst. It was overly sweet, and instead of being firm, it was sloppy like toothpaste.

That sounds horrible.

Thread resurrection time..

In the past I have made burgers with peanut butter and jalepenos and I have always enjoyed it. But today I tried something simpler. Peanut butter sandwich with pickled onions and sweet and spicy pickled Cucumber (used the Aldi Habanero ones)

Why didn't I try this earlier?

It seems insane but it's honestly one of the best combos I have tried.

This has been a family recipe for generations

Simple thing but I stumbled on it the other day. The Mrs and the kid had Sushi. I didn't feel like Sushi so I got a chicken burger with some Fish and Chip shop style chips. Decent chips. Nice and thick with not too much salt.

As a joke I grabbed one of the Sushi soy Sauces. The little ones in the fish shaped squirt bottles. Put a bit on my chips.

So much better than it has any right to be. It kind of makes sense. Chips need salt. Soy sauce is basically salt. But it also has hints of sweetness and hints of vinegar. Vinegar and the sweetness of tomato sauce work great together. So it makes sense that Sushi soy sauce would work well too. I'm just surprised how well it worked.
