here is the list of the 32 nations that will travel to Germany next June.

The actual draw will take place on 9th December, so we dont know the fixtures at this time

Africa (CAF)

Angola
Ivory Coast
Ghana
Togo
Tunisia

Asia (AFC)

Iran
Japan
Korea Republic
Saudi Arabia

Europe (UEFA)

Croatia
Czech Republic
England
France
Germany (host)
Italy
Netherlands
Poland
Portugal
Serbia and Montenegro
Spain
Switzerland
Sweden
Ukraine

South America (CONMEBOL)

Argentina
Brazil
Equador
Paraguay

Ocenia (OFC)

Australia

North America, Central America & Carribean (CONCACAF)

Costa Rico
Mexico
Trinidad & Tabago
United States of America

imo the biggest surprise comes from the african qualifiers,

with the traditional african forces Nigeria, Cameroon, South Africa and the quarter finalists from last years cup Senegal, all failing to qualify

my tip is, Brazil fairly easily

from maybe England or my wildcard tip, serbia & montenegro

the aussies will do well to win it

I think a brazil win as well.

England would be my other tip to win it.

It would be good if the other nations can step up like in the last World Cup.

England?
LMAO!!! You must be kidding!

There's no way England will win it, I reckon the Aussies could even knock them off.

theyve come close in their previous tournaments

2002: Lost 2-1 vs Brazil
Euro 2004: Lost VIA Penalties against Portugal

what makes you think australia have a better chance?

the england team have a big name squad, that includes

Lampard
Beckham
Rooney
Owen
Ferdinand

the whole squad has class

Close but rarely close enough they are a bunch of chokers when it comes to major tournaments.
I don't really rate any of those players over some of the South Americans and I don't give Australia a better chance of winning it (I don't get either side a chance really) but I still think that if we play to our best abilty we can knock the Poms off ... remember 3-1?

Oh and I was in England for their qualifying match against Austria ... that was the funniest game of football I had seen for a very long time. We watched it in an Aussie pub in Manchester and everyone who didn't speak with an English accent (i.e. Aussies, Kiwis and Irish) were cheering madly when Austria equalised ... or more accurately pissing themselves with laughter at David James.

Oh oh oh and I almost forgot the day before that Austria match front page tabloid Beckham: We can win the World Cup .... simply put that is enough for me to predict they will be lucky to make the semi finals

After the match the much more insightful Gerrard points out that they are at best quarter final material and are a long way off becoming the best in the world.

How come the Euro Champions didnt even Qualify ?

we started our cup campaign badly, and when we regathered form it was too late

it was a shame not to be able to back up the success with a world cup place, but thats life

32 spots available, and greece couldnt claim one of them:(

ohhh i see now:grinning: lol

your dismissing the poms world cup bid, is based on biased against them

not on professional analysis of the squads

That would be right totally disregard the reasons listed in the first post.
But to explain the third post ... David Beckham's word is about as as reliable as Brian Smith suggesting that Parra will win a premiership with him in charge.

Croatia,Germany,France and Czech Republic to be the final 4 teams for the WC

Europe have the advantage in the World cup because its easier travelling and the conditions suit them better.

also last time the World cup was held in Europe can someone please tell me which team from what continent won it when no one expected them to?

I don't see Brazil winning it, however i have this really good feeling Australia will chuck a Greece 2004 performance and blitz the whole thing :D , and i'm not just saying it to be biased hehe but why can't they win? They've shown how good they can potentially be and they are gonna do good stuff, the biggest surprise will come from them, just wait n see...

australia can do a greece and surprise everyone

but Brazil wasnt a part of Euro 2004, so thats the difference with the aussies chances of winning it, dont get me wrong i want them to win it and ill be cheering them every minute of every game

but its a big step up to beat some of the worlds best nations in competitive football
