That when the Cap was $9.15m.

It’s more complicated now;
“Each club can offer $100,000 on motor vehicle allowance (up to five, valued at $20,000) and has a $300,000 veteran/developed player allowance. A veteran is valued at 10 percent of salary cap value after nine years at one club. A developed player is 10 percent of salary cap value if contracted for two or more years before their top 30 contract.”

Thanks for clearing it up.. So in the case of Manly, how would that apply to DCE, Turbo and Jake with how you interpret that?

It’s tricky, the NRL Press Release on 17/9/23 just said $300k Veteran and Developed Player Allowance with no further clarification. A few people have thrown interpretations around (one I quoted above) but some of them make no sense, like 10% after 9 years then 5% after 10 years, crazy.

My guess is 10% each would left Manly use the whole $300k, DCE $120k, JT $90k and TT $110k, but that’s only a guess.

The RLPA pushed for $400k, the CBA compromise was $300k.

Is that 300,000 total or would Manly be entitled to 300,000 for DCE, Turbo and Jake, so 900K off the salary cap?

Then Gould is blind

We need props

Withought props
We are sitting ducks
Kikau ain't going anywhere. Geez there's some insanity in this forum.
First we must get a recognised halfback, then we need a top notch fullback, then we need a great Hooker and now we need a great prop.
Prop is the easiest position to manufacture. We have adequate props and development props. If AFB is available we go him. Query is, why didn't we go harder for Leniu?

Name who you are calling adequate props? We have the worst Prop rotation in the league by a long way!

Development Props are exactly that development. Not ready to be thrown to the wolves.

Lack of a quality Prop rotation over the last few years is our single biggest downfall.

Why we didn’t go harder for Leniu or any other Prop is a mystery. Our spine (or lack there of) has been getting all the conversations for the last few years. However the most obvious shortfall we have had is our Prop stocks.

I’m on board with what Gus and co. trying to do building our junior foundations. However they have been asleep at the wheel on this one. We have been low of Prop stocks since before Gus arrived. Sure we need a halfback etc. but the best halfback in the world will look average if the forwards aren’t going forward.

The answer of there are no good ones around doesn’t cut it when the problem hasn’t been addressed for several years.

I don't think the club could have anticipated TPJ leaving, otherwise I doubt they release Pele.

Nope, Pele was always gone, failed too many KPI’s too often.

Perhaps, I'm sure they would have looked at diffently, had TPJ made his announcement earlier in the year

Just as he did at the sharks. Did we not do our homework before signing him or was it just an ego signing from Gus thinking he can fix him?

I don’t think so, that ship had long since sailed and the bridge was burnt.

Either way, the decision was made before the club knew TPJ wasn't gonna be there

Pele went from cult hero and everyone wanting him in the team to when he was released oh he was rubbish, good riddance and all that. The Gus true believers go with the wind.

Didn't see the best of Kickau in 23, runs hard and straight, will be instrumental if the Dogs are to do anything.
