Hey all,
Was curious about anybodys game day experience sitting in the kennel. Got a mate who would become a member with me but he probably would only make 50% of home games.
So to sum it up my main questions are...
1- Do many of you guys member up to the kennel and actually sit together??
2- if i rock up by myself are there plenty of good ppl to sit and have a beer with and cheer the boys on??

The time i visited the Kennel when in Sydney, it was atmospheric. Better than other areas i have been when seeing matches there. A good friday vs Souths game it was. Chants and shit going on. They handed and chant sheets. Do they still do that? Does the Bulldogs Army still exist?

My daughter and 2 of her younger kids are in the Kennel (the older ones are with me in Platinum). She loves it. She tells me that she would rather be there than anywhere else it is great.

A lot has changed since the old kennel / bulldogs army days. Both are kinda dead I've heard.

Some select members of kennel got asked Re changes, club listened to them, and fucked off many others in the process.

I handed mine back when they stopped giving a shit about opposing fans sitting in kennel, and moved the position to a more "TV friendly" part of stadium.

regardless of what members area you sit in, generally you build a relationship up with the people you sit with and most of them are good people.. I ve sat in different seats (never in the kennel) and have made friends where ever we sit..

I sit in the kennel, and I go to games mostly by myself.

I only know a few of the members there by name, and I wave and say hi to a few but I don't sit with them. There is a fairly cliquey core group of 20-30 or so that have The Kennel banner and drums etc.

I personally don't go to games to chat to people and whatever so I am fine hooking up my sports ears and watching the game, but it is nice to be around some of the more loud fans and the position of the kennel is really great value for money. I also like that I can sit where I like, as there are definitely some people in the kennel that I actively avoid.

Don't get me wrong though, even though I don't go to socialise I am not a recluse and more than happy for a chat and beer if someone wants someone to sit with.

Was a Kennel member for 9 years.

Changed for this year, mainly because the positioning isn't fantastic, and I find that sitting behind the posts isn't as bad as it seems.

People are generally nice though. A few gronks, but they could be the little 14 year old rats who sneak past the marshmallow security.

Yeah, you get that even in the platinum area. There is one bloke who sits behind me comes every game with manly jumper on. Spends the whole game giving it to our blokes and the refs and then goes home with his missus. Comes pretty much every week so he can't be borrowing a pass. I don't get it but he seems happy....

I think you meant to quote Mr I, but that is pretty sad.

However I don't know what people expect the club to do about opposition fans being in our areas if they have a valid pass. There are opposition fans in the kennel every game, and it can get irksome but there is really nothing you can do about it.

The kennel is a good place to sit fpr atmosphere, & also to build friendships.. faces are pretty regular..

It also acts a quaratine so u dont need to sit next to opposition & risk getting rabies

Yeah i dont mind sitting behind the posts. Mainly because I like watching how the players mark up/ create overlaps and gives you a bit more feel for how skillful all the players are.
I remember 2004 GF and i was sitting behind roosters goal post in 2nd half, 79min had gone by, up by 3pnts, Crocker hits a hole and i stand up and yell FUCK NO... Ryan comes from no where and saves my life. Best moment ever

We may of been sitting nearby mate.

Scariest part was Mini looming on the inside... Would of killed me if he broke through, with Patten to beat and Mini pushing up.

I am usually in the platinum pedigree area ( close to a few of the posters here ) and I have made some very good friends and find that the experience is good. Sit in the kennel at our reciprocal away games ( and at places like Newy and Central coast) and love it when the chants start and the fans get loud. Sitting in the kennel is a great experience ( yeah okay, not so much last two years where crowd numbers have dropped off and enthusiasm has been low) and just like anywhere else in the ground you have to take it or leave it when it comes to knowing how to take people.

I too do not like it when the kennel area is infiltrated by supporters of the other side ( normally they sneak in after half time especially when their side starts to gain the upper hand) who want to stir the pot as it were. Some of the language can be pretty confronting too but I tend to ignore that part of it. You can only gain access to it at home games with the kennel membership so not sure how 'foreigners' are able to sit there as security should be checking their cards. At the reciprocal games the kennel usually situates in the far right hand side opposite the tunnel complete opposite to normal. As long as you have a Dogs membership card you can sit with the kennel at away games.

Bring back the BELLES would help, much better than the minority pleasing boys with their black shirts and their tom tom drums FFS! who's idea was that anyhow?:rage:

The sapphires was another culture changing Bull Shit idea, probably nice ladies but, the look like a bunch of early teen cheer girls wearing stuff designed in the 40's. who were these so called decision makers that decided that pleasing the minority would be for the best???
