if Southgate was going to play 3 CBs, then I would have dropped Kalvin Phillips, played Rice as the lone DM, Mount as a box-to-box CM with greater defensive and ball recycling duties, and paired Grealish and Sancho behind Kane

Yeah I think you’re right.some ticketless ferals went to Wembley and tried to get in with no tickets.

He was too defensive , way too cautious playing at home. There we’re moments in that game where Italy werethere for the taking, but Southgate was sleeping and sticking to his pre match game plan ( which included the Rashford Sancho shootout subs) . Sometimes game plans go out the window and you have to improvise.
With Chiesa and Insigne off you have to go for it and especially when you’re playing at home. England didn’t and paid the price .
