That's a dream side. .

lol, it’s “uncomfirmed” that we signed him then the nrl Nostradamus add his 2 cents.

With no major signings for 2025, it does look like the 'war chest' has been saved for 2026.
It makes sense quality players like Thompson will be getting serious offers from the Dogs for 2026 on.
One way or another 2026 is going to be a top 4 side. That's what I like about the current situation.
It's up to Thompson, or any others Gus is speaking with, to decide for themselves if they want to be part of a serious premiership challenge.
If not, good luck to them.
I hope they enjoy Canberra, Newcastle, or whatever shithole they end up in.

I’m gonna call it as I see it. I’m gonna say it’s smoke and mirrors to get more $$$ outta Canberra or Knights.

I agree. I'd expand a little and say it's smoke and mirrors to get a big deal from any team though.

I'd assume that the expectations vs the reality that Thompson and his manager have faced based on the attention he's gotten since announcing he'll test the market are a long way apart. Thompson is among the better props left on the market. But he's still developing league nations rep quality rather than Aus/NZ/State of origin quality.

He's a good prop. But probably a few tiers below the best in the business. But given that the Dolphins joining the comp created a bit of a shortage of experience in positions that are usually pretty well covered, props and second rowers of any note became harder to lure in. So Thompson's manager is no doubt still hoping that he'll get close to a million but probably hasn't had any ridiculous overs offered. He's definitely good enough to have attracted interest from multiple clubs. But the playing stocks are catching up again. There's guys who have had a year or two to show their skills since the Dolphins joined and made it hard to get decent players in any position. So overs for average is probably not happening quite as often. But the expectations built from seeing the money thrown at better than average players will linger with managers for a bit.
