Page is usually reliable
No they're not. They just take rumours we all hear and make like they have inside info. Because Simonsen was released they are betting on Cotric joining them... which will probably happen.

They said Smith was a done deal a while back just because someone said so on a radio show.

"Exclusive!" please. Just like this exclusive

If we lose Cotric, Raiders might also want Hodgson to go early to the Eels and pay a little freight, which means that we could get Mahoney early. This would be amazing if it all worked out like this.

Raiders duo Josh Hodgson and Bailey Simonsson have sorted out their long-term futures with the pair signing deals to join Parramatta.

Hodgson, who has been linked to a Raiders departure throughout this season, will join the Eels in 2023 on a two-year deal while Simonsson will join the western Sydney club effective immediately.

What does that means for us?
Canbra have 2 spots open in their 30, but their Cap must be tight, they have a number of players on decent money (8 players = $4.5m).

Cotric played 93 games for Canberra before joining the Bulldogs at the end of 2020 but he’s endured a tough 12 months at Belmore.

Injuries restricted his season to just 14 games and after a lean run of form, it now looks like his rich $650,000 per-season deal over three years will end prematurely.

The Raiders are expected to sign back Cotric for the 2022 season in the coming days, according to The Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio.

“I expect them to formalise it today or tomorrow that will be Bailey Simonsson from the Raiders moving to the Parramatta Eels,” Riccio told SEN.

“That will allow Nick Cotric from the Canterbury Bulldogs to finish his time up there after just twelve months.

“He will be gone, he’s played his last game for the Bulldogs, he’s heading back to Canberra.”

The Bulldogs have been trying to free up salary cap space and Cotric’s departure contract could see them return to the market following a bumper recruiting drive.

Why the fuck are we freeing up space after sacking Elliott and getting burns on fick all? With this we have almost 1 mil of cap? People saying oh cotric is over paid if we are paying 100/200k that is the over…. We have to add some Nuffie for minimum plus that? The gap between nuffie and cotric isn’t worth the amount we save ffs.

That said if it is a case we made a deal with eels and raiders that we all shuffle and we get Mahoney earlier all for it. Makes sense that way as we need him urgently and the gap between him
And jmk is huge compared to gap between cotric and say Okon or Allen or Lume or whatever.

Just can’t Fucking let cotric go and strengthen eels and raiders 2 direct threats to the 8 for what? More cap space and losing our second best back?

If this is true…..I really hope we make good use out of both his place in the roster and make sound financial choices with the money raised.

Even though he is on overs if we are paying more the 100k each year for 2022-2023 this is really bad business.

The mismanagement of the cap by previous administrations is the reason we are in the hole we are in. If the current administration are paying big sums to offload players. What have we learnt?

Cotric is a gun but I feel we have adequate cover with Okunbor, & Burns, Lume lume, Alamoti. His salary could cover the 4 of them lol. This feels the same when Gus offloaded Jennings at the Panthers.
Oko can do alright and same same Burns, sceptical on Lumie and Alamoti 1 isn't ready and 2 he plays centre, yes I know Naden can cover.

Also he isn't on 650K! On overs yes but not a lot..meh whatever so much noise that it looks like it's done, we couldn't possibly be lunching 200 grand to have him potentially scoring tries against us could we? Lol
