David Villa (ex-Barcelona and ex-Atletico Madrid), Spain's all-time leading goalscorer has signed to play a 10 game spell with Melbourne City (the renamed Melbourne Heart) before joining Manchester City's other sister club, New York City.

As good as del Piero was for Sydney FC, he was 37 arriving here. Villa's only 32 and coming off a season for the Spanish champions and Champions League finalists. Great news for Australian football.

Damn! That's actually an awesome signing! He's still good enough for any league, IMO.

Man City who own Melbourne Heart also own the new MLS franchise New York City FC in partnership with the NY Yankees. New York City FC have signed Villa fulltime so its no surprise his employer ( Man City owners ) are bringing him here for guest appearances.

you might see more of it because the MLS breaks for off season during the new year when A League is in full swing, i think Cahill is the logical choice to also visit

btw i cant wait for the FFA cup competition, the A League is far too exclusive and now it will improve the situation of football outside of it

I would be extremely pissed off if Timmy does not play atleast one season down here.
