Pay finally decided to make a true call. A call that is his own. This is the team he actually feels is his best bet.

When your job is on the line, you make decisions you think gives you the best opportunity to stay employed.

So it tells me, he let some of the players dictate selections. He’s not willing to let the tail wag the dog when his future is up for grabs

You really do now have to think that the Board have stepped in to find a way forward. Maybe Reimus' form is all due to knowing the senior players dont think he is a centre either, however, from what DT tell us (yet again our most often only source of club info), Dean is leaving him there.

As most everyone opposed to our poor results and recruitment, say....fine give Pay a fair chance but he needs to put the best team on the park. He isnt. We are poor from dummy half. Its a huge gamechanger now. Coaches are going with 2 hookers. We have the Tongan hooker sitting around in the stands. Give him a try under game conditions. Who knows how he'll go.

We have the Fijian halfback. Pay hasnt picked him either. We cant score. Now we hear Harper not picked cos he has signed with Manly. If we hear Wakeham not picked cos he has signed elsewhere, for a fg start, well it will be tragic.

Reimis's form is due to him having few if any of the qualities of a good centre IMO. Doesn't have a decent swerve or step, has no fend to speak of, has speed but doesn't get going very quickly and can't bump off defenders or offload. He's an average defender and doesn't have a natural sense of how to defend in that position.

To be fair, the service to him has been shit, but he's a dead-set winger, and a good one - we just need to get a decent spine and get the ball out there quicker so he can wind up. Anyhow, Pay looks like he's committed to not being wrong on this one, so hopefully Foz can get something out of him today.

So true. Wingers now making their own opportunities and not just part of a chain passing move to the sideline. That role has changed even more so now as well.

Calls into question any long term future for Meaney to handle playing in that position and that's what we need at the club atm...people who can see the new strategies and type of player who can adapt to these new game conditions.

We don't appear to have the right people to make these assessments or fresh thinking to implement it.

We all hope for a win today really. I could never hope for a loss. But I can understand those who think a loss will hasten our move to become more proactive and therefore the start to improve the club.

If you don't have a fend, you aren't a fg centre. It's become their biggest threat now.
