Hehe. Putin.

But anyway.... The reason we don't have all this stuff is money. Everything costs too much.

We have resources that should get lots of money
Yep. We have resources but we're still 70c to the dollar against America. Our GDP is 1.7% of the global GDP. America is 25% of the global GDP. We're a small country trying to pretend that we count, when we don't.

Always best to avoid the media. The media is just there to sensationalise everything. A scientist at a restaurant probably looked at a half empty bottle of water and said "we're running out water" and a reporter overheard it.

It's one of the things climate deniers do quite often. They post all these quotes with grim predictions that didn't come true, therefore climate change isn't real. Problem is the quotes are always from the media or celebrities. Not from actual climate scientists.
The current face and leader of the entire climate debate is a mentally ill 16 year old girl from Sweden with absolutely no qualifications.

It's no wonder people find it difficult to believe the claims of people who believe in climate change.

SMH.

She is literally telling us she isn't a scientist herself and that we should listen to those who do know what they are talking about. Funny how a teenager can get that simple message, but so many alleged adults don't.

By "mental illness", are you referring to her autism?

The very fact she keeps it a simple message, is why she is cutting through.

The adults and polly(s) waffle(s) ;)

Funny thing is that climate scientists and scientific organisations have been saying for 30 years now that climate change is a problem. A kid comes along and says, "Listen to the scientists" and the response is, "We're not going to listen to a mentally disabled girl"

Not a terrible idea. They carried out research at Yale that found that we could counteract the last 10 years of CO2 by planting around 1 trillion trees. Problem is that after planting 1 trillion trees we pretty much run out of space and with growing populations and more CO2 going into the atmosphere every day, in less than 10 years we'll be worse than we are now.

Mitigation works better. Stop the CO2 from going out there in the first place. Or capture it and put it back in the ground. Unfortunately any solution is rather expensive.

Time Person of the Year is merely who they thought was the most influential person of the year. The person who brought up the most news stories.

As an example here's some other Time Person of the Years:

2016 - Donald Trump

2007 - Vladimir Putin

2006 - You

1938 - Adolf Hitler
Exactly. Some people seem to think its an award or something.

Serious question here. I've heard plenty and read plenty that the big scare campaign many decades ago was global cooling and a potential ice age (not global warming).

How should we deal with this (assuming it's true)? Wouldn't this call into question scientists accuracy when they tell us what they tell us?

Same reason I tell people not to listen to the alarmists today and instead read the scientific reports and research.

The Wikipedia article on the global cooling stuff covers this pretty well:

Global cooling was a conjecture, especially during the 1970s, of imminent cooling of the Earth culminating in a period of extensive glaciation. Some press reports in the 1970s speculated about continued cooling; these did not accurately reflect the scientific literature of the time, which was generally more concerned with warming from an enhanced greenhouse effect.[1]

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling

There will always be media and others running fear campaigns. You have to ignore those and focus on the facts.

Basically put. The scientists never said that a global cooling was coming. That's why you should trust the scientists. They said that global cooling wouldn't be a problem and they were right.
