A few of us already said this months ago.
Nothing really new
We know who the ones in contention are and I said from day 1 Reed Mahoney is captain material every day of the week and twice on the weekends
It all depends on who is most level headed when it comes to talking on the run under fatigued... Reed, Thommo and King have the biggest motors through the middle so it would surely be out of these 3 blokes.

Will be interesting to see if Sutton and his mates treatment of us change as we once again become a powerhouse.
They will probably be the biggest obstacle we will have to overcome to become a powerhouse.

Im not a fan of leadership groups and no soul captain, just my opinion but think having a soul captain is the way to go. Nothing wrong with a leadership group underneath
What’s a soul captain?
Like a philosophical meditational zen master captain?

A leadership group tells me we don't have a standout leader in the group currently

Leadership Group is not the same as Co-Captains.

Most NRL teams have a "Leadership Group", generally senior players that set the standard for others players to follow, often a mix of forwards, backs and spine that maintain the discipline amongst the players including after hours, act as confidant when a player needs it, helps the coaching staff communicate with the players and vice versa.

"Co-Captains" are most often part of the Leadership Team, but they have additional responsibilities, such as press conferences, being the player's spokesman, negotiating with the referees on the field, they used to relay the coaches instructions on the field but the trainers do that these days, maintaining team discipline, make decisions when required and overall being the team leader on the field.

Can’t believe people think Thommo is captain material. JAC and RFMs standing within the group and attachment to being a Bulldog is light years beyond this Thommo bloke.

He's the no brainer. 80 minutes, plays in the thick of it, decent experience, good age, has the temperament etc.

It's not like he's coming in to captain a group of seasoned Bulldogs, it's a few guys who've only been here for a year or two and a bunch of rookies, fringe 1st grade players, and blokes not long for the club.

Don’t you think a new player should earn his stripes at a club? Especially one with no history as a captain. If he has established himself as the leader in these few short weeks then he deserves the role. Pretty rare to do that so quickly I reckon.
