Good in patches against Stoke. Torres looked ****ing awesome at stages, had heaps of quality touches and looked sharper than he ever has for chelsea. Ramires also shined, hes an absolute star. Kalou you joke, please go away FMD. Alex is a must keep, absolutely phenomenal player, doesn't lose a header. Bosingwa also had one of his best games in a chelsea shirt, looked menacing going forward and decent defence. Would still rather Ivanovic though, EPL right back of the year last year. Mikel was ok, but we really need Josh Mceachran to play with Lampard playing more defensive, he just doesn't have that extra yard or so of speed to get to balls that he would of got to 2 years ago. Anelka was better than Malouda when he came on imo, looked sharper and quicker. I think when Sturridge comes back from suspension, it will be an Anelka - Torres - Sturridge top 3 with Drogba coming on for Torres if things aren't working. Ivanovic should take Bosingwa's spot and we're sweet.

To be fair with Torres... I thought he needed a whole off season to get back into the form when he was with us after Benitez almost ruining his career by rushing him back very early from injury.

Chelsea make £27m bid for Valencia's Spanish international winger Juan Mata
Chelsea have bid £27 million for the Spanish international Juan Mata as manager Andre Villas-Boas made a decisive move to improve his squad before the transfer window closes.

The offer is expected to secure the 23 year-old from Valencia who are likely to accept the bid ahead of interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Arsenal dropped their interest in Mata last week, having allowed a £22 million buy-out clause in his contract to expire, and it now appears that was probably in response to Chelsea’s intervention and the knowledge they would trump any offer.

Villas-Boas is keen to add pace, creativity and width to the team and has agreed that Mata would be an important addition to his squad.
Valencia do not want to sell so close to the start of the Spanish season but Mata is agitating for a move.

Although Mata predominantly plays on the left, the move does not mean that Chelsea have dropped their interest in Porto’s Alvaro Pereira. The Uruguayan can play as a full-back or wing-back while Mata is also adaptable and can even play through the middle if required.

His arrival would leave a huge question mark over the futures of Florent Malouda and Yossi Benayoun especially as Chelsea also have to create some room in their 25-man squad for new signings who are experienced foreign players such as Mata.

Chelsea held talks with Porto on Wednesday evening to discuss the availability of Pereira and also Joao Moutinho who has been identified as an addition to the centre of midfield should their efforts to sign Luka Modric from Tottenham continue to falter.

Chelsea have discussed the prospect of offering €20 million (£17.4m) for Pereira and €25-30 million (£21.7-£26m) for Moutinho and have received encouragement. Although this falls below the buy-out clauses for both players, Porto would like to do business especially as they have already signed replacements in Alex Sandro and Steven Defour.

Chelsea have been weighing up for the past two weeks when they should submit a revised third bid for Modric — having had offers of £22 million and £27 million rejected — and are likely to finally submit a cash offer of £30 million in the coming days.

The deal is in the balance despite the continued insistence of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy that he will not sell. Villas-Boas said on Thursday of the club’s interest: “It depends on a lot of things. It depends on the club’s decision, if they are willing to go forward or not, up to which value and to decide whether they want to keep the interest in the player.

“It depends on what you have available. On the price, and availability, on the age of the player that you get. On everything. Luka, on this particular occasion, is a young player but there would be for sure a sensible price to pay. We have to take sensible decisions. Every decision is a club decision as well.”

Villas-Boas stressed that he made the technical decisions at Chelsea but, when it was put to him that he wanted the player, he replied: “It doesn’t depend on me. It’s not my money.” Chelsea have moved for three of the world’s most promising teenagers this summer and it was suggested to Villas-Boas that an established superstar would offer something different. “Hopefully,” he said. “I think the ones we have are superstars.”

Chelsea formally confirmed the signing of Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku on Thursday, while goalkeeper Thibault Courtois and midfielder Oriol Romeu have also arrived.

Courtois has already been loaned out to Atlético Madrid and, despite news that Petr Cech has suffered a medial ligament injury to his right knee, cannot be recalled. Cech will be out for up to four weeks, leaving Ross Turnbull and Henrique Hilario to play in his absence. Hilario was on the bench against Stoke City last Saturday and is most likely to start against West Brom tomorrow.

Villas-Boas admitted that he was ultimately relieved that the damage to Cech was not more serious after one of his team-mates landed on him during a training ground incident on Wednesday.

Lukaku is only 19, but Villas-Boas already believes that he is ready for the Premier League and he could even make his debut against West Brom. “He has tremendous physical qualities to play in the Premier League, that’s for sure,” said Villas-Boas. “He is tremendously powerful, very strong in the challenges, although, despite his size, he has an explosiveness and an ability to react quickly which looks pretty amazing. But he faces the biggest competition of his life with the forwards that we have.”

In:

Meireles - will most likely play as a midfielder with lampard holding as we did in the friendlies.
Mata - absolute star, very similar to silva from ****ty. way better than malouda, kalou, anelka and very creative.
Lukaku - next drogba, simple as that. faster version and even bigger than drogba, not as technically gifted though
Romeo - holding mid, decent frame spain u21s captain and named in the top 10 players of the u21s champ recently, which says something. 5 mil pound signing, hope he turns out to be quality, i like the looks of him.
Davila - havnt seen much of him, another chivas product like hernandez and vela i think. hopefully a good signing, hes been loaned out to our affiliate club vitesse though.
Courtois - goalie from genk, apparently very talented, loaned to athletico as a replacement for DDG. hopefully will turn out good.

OUT:

Zhirkov to anzhi for 13 mil roughly. shouldve been kept as cover for ashley and as a reserve midfielder, but nothing too damaging.
Rajkovic to hamburg because he couldnt get his visa after 3 years here. big loss this one, has massive potential, in the vidic mould and even bigger with great technical ability for a back. devo we lost him.

Loaned out:

Kakuta to bolton - great move, hopefully see him get game time, he is possibly our next big thing along with josh mceachran.
Benayoun to Arsenal - no big, was only depth anyway. past his use by date at 32.
PVA to wigan - immense talent, hope he gets lots of game time and develop to be ashleys understudy with bertrand.
Davila to vitesse
Kalas to vitesse
Lalkovic to doncaster
Walker to northampton town
Bruma to Hamburg - arrogant feeeeck, enormous potential though. needs an attitude fix up if he is to fulfill his potential. can be a cb for a big club in the future i think, but not for us. at least 5 cbs in front of him atm.

wake up u fat lards. kakuta, mceachran and tore need more game time, our first teamers aren't doing the job. Ramires is the worst buy in the history of this club. Mikel is the exact same player with more physical attributes.

the post was done after a few of our games? he was getting outpaced, outmuscled and beaten to the ball everytime, do you think he warranted a 23 mil price tag? now hes certainly made up for lost time. btw josh mceachran is a possibility to start for us next week according to some forums. looking forward to it !

Chelsea intend to loan out Fernando Torres in January.

The Sunday Mirror says Torres is set to be loaned out in January if he fails to find his goalscoring boots.

A temporary deal, *probably back to Spain, is *being considered by Blues boss André Villas-Boas as he attempts to solve Torres’ loss of form.

They have not considered selling Torres because his poor form has decimated his market value.

Cash-rich Malaga and Torres’ former club Atletico Madrid could offer him temporary sanctuary.
