btw what happens to Xerri now? Wilson as well will miss out with Kiraz back to wing? Probably makes even more sense to part with Fox as well now

1. Crichton
2. Fox/Wilson/Skelton
3. Xerri/Skelton
4. Burton
5. Kiraz

Was just listening to SEN and Burto was a guest speaker at an event last Friday. He was asked his favourite position and he firmly answered "Five Eighth".

I think if we move him to centre he will ask for a release. There would be a fair few clubs that would take him and play him there. Raiders, Dragons, Tigers, etc.

Whether or not that should be taken into account is a matter of opinion. I just think that's what would happen. He came to the club to play in the halves. Personally I would leave him there. He played all of his junior footy there.

People are quick to claim he is an elite centre based on 3/4 of a season there at Penrith. He had a pretty fair side around him. Tyrone Peachey friggen looked good at centre for Penrith this year. Burto played 1 good origin at centre and 1 poor origin at centre. If he would have played centre for us this year he would have done fark all because we got smashed in the forwards this year.

Of course he has work to do but I cant believe people would consider starting someone like Hutchinson in front of him.

Not only is he a 6, but he's the best half we have on our books for 2024.

He's still young and playing in a side that is changing his halves partner every week, no decent fullback and the worst forward pack in the comp. How do you expect a young half to thrive in this environment?

Yes he definately has improvement but you guys realise he's 23 right? Halves mature late, even Nathan Cleary didn't start consistently performing until around 22/23 years old.

Burton isn’t the problem at 5/8 .. it’s not having alpha props to lay the foundations that’s the problem .. AFB & May are a must !!

No halves are going to excel until that problems solved !

Then he can leave.

Every offseason there's talk about numerous players, some of them big names, changing positions and it never happens. Burton will be in the halves. If we had better halves at the club then maybe it'd be a conversation.. But until that time, he's one of the best options we have despite his flaws and the many things he needs to improve on..

You're talking garbage. On the rare occasion our forwards managed to rip in and dominate, Burton was very good. Even Flanagan looked decent. Without a decent and dominant pack, Nathan Cleary would look shit. And that's not just a throw away line, that's just how it is.

Gus' biggest failure is his inability to sign a couple of big boppers in the engine room and not managing to keep Vaughn while he was there.

Hopefully that gets rectified soon or we will be copping mor 30+ floggings.
I'm talking absolute facts. Burton has very real flaws as a half and they exist irrespective of the state of our forward pack. His core fundamentals are lacking and he consistently struggles to execute the basics because of it. I could go into great depth singling out all these flaws but not even I have the time for that.

I hope we keep him at the club, he is a classy player yet to reach his potential as a five-eight or centre, weeks ago I was being sarcastic when I predicted
A swap is on, Burton > Penrith, Luai > Bulldogs...Stranger things have happened !

We'll see. Ciraldo has done dumber stuff. Like moving him to halfback lololol. What a plonker our coach is.
@Flanagun Ciraldo had two chances during a game to move him to centre when an outside back went down and Reynolds a specialist no.6 was on the bench. Both games Topine a back-rower was made to play centre. One game was against Campbell Graham. Ciraldo gets the leave pass. Topine gets savaged.

The most Important part of the article is :
“options including Toby Sexton, Drew Hutchison, Kurt Mann, Jaeman Salmon and Blake Taaffe.”

Here we go again with you talking shit but saying nothing. Stick to I told you so, at least little flange tries to drum up facts to support his bullshit. You just state Burton has flaws but to busy to say what. You must have a government job say enough with saying anything .

I can go into great depth on his potential but like you said no time for that.
