Most on here seem to agree that Hopoate is not the answer to the centre problem. I have suggested CHN as an alternative.
Another alternative might be Chris Smith. Hes played a lot of centre and wouldnt take much moulding into a centre.
He can tackle as well.
Was just thinking about Chris Smith too. But it’s hard to see him getting a crack.

Heard Chris say at an open training session that he doesn't want to play at centre.

I hope thats not true. We are desperate for a good centre. Hopoate is ISP material. Harper isnt ready for FG yet. Olives tackling needs to improve about 90%.
So just who do we play as centre. Holland has one side sewn up.

Its just because we dont fucking have anyone. Hopoate is useless, Harper and Olive cant cut it.
So who do you suggest we put in there seeing your the resident expert?

I reckon Harper can.. He adapts pretty quick. Best go with Hoppa and Holland to start and see how it goes... By that time form will be the deciding factor.

Will be interesting to see how Holland and Foran defend.

The backrowers aren't doing any better than Hoppa, there's a reason they stopped playing in the centres years ago.

Is Meaney fast? The footage I’ve seen doesn’t suggest it.
He is quicker than Hoppa,it’s nothing personal
You can really see it at the game his lack of acceleration
I think it’s an essential requirement in his position
It will cost us points in 2019

I think the difference in Montoya 2017 to Montoya 2018, Brenko Lee.. Brenko made some poor judgments, but 70% he was good, when he fired so did Montoya..

Hoppa is a ball playing fullback ...speed is ok and he can set up his outside support with quick passes . He can certainly read an overlap that's for sure ...hoppa at fullback for mine....
Meaney needs to prove himself and do the hard yards first same with cogger

Must admit I haven't seen much of Sue. Is he likely to be in front of Ogden, Tualau or Fualalo? I thought Ogden played well in those opportunities he got late last season, I think he deserves a bench spot.
Probably in front of both on experience but this is my order of preference. If he gets the nod instead of Ogden I would be surprised or bothered as they will all get a chance at some stage.
1-Ogden
2-Sue
3-Tualau

I’m thinking it will be more like:

Nick Meaney
Christian Crichton
Will Hopoate
Kerrod Holland
Reimis Smith
Lachlan Lewis
Kieran Foran
Dylan Napa
Jeremy Marshall King
Aiden Tolman
Josh Jackson
Rhyse Martin
RFM

Jack Cogger
Sauaso Sue
Corey Harawira-Naera
Adam Elliot
You saved me a whole lot of typing. Cheers!

How do you know Harper can't cut it? All due respect it's a pretty stupid statement...

Been done to death here but for me CHN should be 1 centre Dutchy the other, at least to start the season.

Might seem stupid to you, but Harper is probably 2 years away from being NRL standard.
We won't know until he has a shot.

My point is that it's a stupid call to say he can't cut in the nrlol with no explanation or proof.

Just interested to see why he wouldn't cut it....
