Yes I would camp alone, for me it's about location and reconnecting with nature. enjoy the social aspects too when you go camping with a group or just socialising with people you meet.Is camping enjoyable because it's camping or enjoyable because of the social aspect of it? Like would you camp alone? I've never been camping before so I don't know. Closest I've been to camping is all night long beach parties or that time I was homeless because I ran away from home when I was a kid.

Yes I did, not with the family though.Definitely worth a go Marley, did you ever do caravanning with the family? I absolutely loved that as a kid.
Seriously have a yarn with some mates and give it a crack..ps I'd buy a tent too not sure just a swag will do the job haha.
I agree on the tent for a newcomer to camping. I have a swag, but if I'm fishing somewhere I like the convenience of it being a two minute set-up and rolling up my sleeping bag ready to go with the swag.Definitely worth a go Marley, did you ever do caravanning with the family? Absolutely Alan all sage advice its very affordable and your right swags while great are not cheap.I agree on the tent for a newcomer to camping. The convenience of a swag is that it's a quick to set up all in one unit. The inconvenience is that it's generally a bit cramped and not cheap. For a first time camper a two man tent from Kmart does the job for about $30 from memory. Can get an air mattress and some basic camp cookware and a sleeping bag for the same price you'd buy a bottom of the line swag. I'd highly recommend that over a swag if you were seeing if you enjoy camping. And I've faced rainy days with my swag and regretted not having a tent with me so I can at least sit up. I generally take my Kmart special as well as the swag if I'm going for a few days just in case rain hit's.
I might sleep in the backyard tonight and see how it goesAbsolutely Alan all sage advice its very affordable and your right swags while great are not cheap.
If splitting the costs with a mate you can even get a bloody decent 4 man tent for right on a $100 and obviously have a bit more room etc.Last blow up double mattress i bought was cheap 30 bucks maybe a bit less..can get terriffic rechargeable lanterns for 20, the little gas cookers are not much more..etc etc
Definitely recommend it @Marley and if you take the plunge give it a go more than once with a mate or even better an adventurous chick it really is fun "roughing it" a bit.
