Burton was the best of our spine tonight. He looked ok in the 7. Still a LOT of work to do but he was the only one who really looked like creating anything. With a full strength side around him, there's potential.
Perham offered almost nothing. His kick returns are as slow and soft as Dufty's.
Flanno does not have the speed or power to play 6. Another under-the-radar night where he didn't make mistakes but also offered very little in attack.
Mahoney had a shocker. Maybe we need to run with a 2nd hooker on the bench to give him a break and a chance to reset.
Nu Brown would have helped give Reed a spell but he's been injured too. Reed has been shocking the last three weeks. He's overplaying his hand massively and makes too many dumb decisions.

Reed looked his best at parra when you didn't notice him he just tried to make his tackles and passed, he is reminding me of the Melbourne players who people rate because of the tesms success and once they leave you see how useless they are

He has the right balance the first month or so but now he's just been sloppy and needs to simplify things to just tackle and kick every now and then. He needs to stop trying hero plays three tackles straight that just waste valuable plays on the opponents line

Defences know our right side atm isn’t a threat with Flanagan as he isn’t a dangerous ball runner and with Avirello on one leg and no Kiraz our left edge is easy pickings
We need to put Reynolds on the right side. He is a better ball runner then Flanagan defences start to look a bit and it gives Burton the opportunity to be more one on one. Mahoney can then stick to playing in the ruck which his best. Def think he does need a rest at times especially with the amount of middle forwards out currently. Flanagan just really isn’t suited to the ‘eyes up play’ modern type the 6 again rule and speed of the ruck has killed his game. He is a manufactured Cronk clone which the job is to direct the team to where they need to be and the kick and ball play unfortunately he doesn’t have that slight of hand of Cronk or is that classy that he can dictate a side (Cronk one a grand final with a broken scapula just being a ‘puppeteer’) Look at jarome Hughes he makes the defence think with his running game as he has pace and can beat a man one on one.
Either we put Reynolds in or give Oloapu a go. He will test the defence himself
Burton will struggle being the ‘main man’ with no support. No Kikau and Ado Carr would hurt so much with his options

Still not a great game by him but at least he threatened and setup at least one try. How many try assists has Flanno got?

People focus on Burto but he’s actually the keast of our problems. It’s the lack of toughness and brain dead plays that is our biggest issue. Sharks showed exactly how you need to approach the game, with hardness, desire and focus. We look like we’ve just woke up half the time.
Until we get some decent middles back we are stuffed. The guys we are playing just can’t lay a platform consistently. Hard to win games when you’re playing off the backfoot and the defence is in your face immediately.

Reed needs go forward. We have the worst forward pack in the league. Until we get some back it would take amazing backline play and creativity from the halves which we have only seen ok dribs and drabs this season.

I’m excited about next week only because the dragons come off a short week and I’m hoping CC decides to throw the dice and try Skelton and KO. Nothing to lose at this point.

He has looked way off in recent games. Something I noticed about Brailey was that he he darts out of dummy half a bit before passing the ball, which gives the forwards extra momentum as they receive it. Not that Reed will or really needs to change to that style, but lately he hasn’t been making much difference, which sucks.
The big difference between other teams and us is their forwards are running on to the ball at speed and the backs support them and very quick play the balls, very hard to stop. the only time we did that tonight was when Preston got the ball at full speed and broke through which almost led to a try, everybody on our team gets the ball from a standing start which is no problem at all for the opposition defense, we have a Fullback who can catch the ball but doesn't run full pelt to gain meters instead he stops and looks for a gap to run into by the It's too late all gaps are closed and he has minimal impact

He loved the hero plays at parra but their halves wouldn't cop it and let it be known I believe it's the only reason he left he thought he could come here and be the hero he thinks he is
