The stand out today was Todd. He has the ability to do it all in the forwards. Solid defence, tough runs, skill before the line, nice decoy runner, excellent footwork. I can understand why Gus said that if not for the broken arms last year that he would have already had a few first grade matches already. I can see him being our long term loose forward.
Hughes is obviously the incumbent. DSF looked really solid - strong hit ups and nice post contact. May have a bigger motor than Hughes to be honest. I personally didn't think Amone did too badly. He was gased at some points in the second half. First half he put some nice pressure from marker and turned the player nicely on their back. Underhill will be really good in 2-3 years, big body, good drive with the leg. Morrin did a morrin performance last night. Had one mistake as per usual, but once he got that out of his system, he just ran hard and tackled hard. Salmon seemed to captained the side well today and may be that steadying ship. Hayes played well with some great offloads promoting second phase plays.
That being said I see the one of the prop position and bench as being a battle between - Hughes, Sitilli, Curran, Hayward, Salmon, DSF, Todd, Hayes, Morrin and Amone. Have to fit 10 into 5 will be CC's decision. Glad to have that depth especially with Leo Thompson still to come.
