I'd have King, Sutton and TPJ (keep at prop tho) all over Thompson at lock

Thompson can't pass at all and can't offload. Why did Ciraldo even think of playing him there. He was rubbish against Raiders and will play like shit against Cronulla.

TPJ does the exact opposite and plays with aggression.

Waddell at 17? So, he can throw hospital passes to Flanagan

Pele and Preston did more in 1 run than what Waddell did in the whole game.

Thompson was okay in the trial. He should just be used as a prop tho.

I couldn't trust TPJ at lock personally, prop is his best position. King or Sutton would be the best picks imo.

Waddell's best position is lock in the middle but he isn't a great footballer. It's criminal he keeps being selected. Playing favourites with duds was a big reason why Baz didn't last, thankfully not many left for coach to pick.

Pele and Preston (especially) did enough to get an opportunity in the 17. I'm hoping the bench isn't named correctly but I don't think that's the case.

They said all the players will get a run.. I wouldn't read much into who isn't in the 17... Maybe Ciraldo thinks he's seen enough from Preston, I mean even before the Raiders game there was talk that the coaching staff have been really impressed by him

It's pretty hard to ignore how good Preston was last weekend. I reckon despite how divided the kennel usually is on player selections, probably 100% on here would agree with Preston > Waddell.

Could come down to player and/or media management. One thing this does is keeps him hungry to prove himself and earn his NRL debut. Another is it helps quell the hype from #PrestonMania so that there is less pressure on him overall. As annoying as some of Waddell's poor defence was, he did look like he played with a tonne of effort and for a lot of minutes too. Effort needs to be rewarded in squads *shrugs*.

Biggest question mark is Nu Brown. Hard to know Ciraldo's pecking order for Round #1 without getting to see him gel with the squad.
