His effort was good, his timing was a bit rusty. Same as you said.

Yeah I agree but am also just saying, he can look worse than he actually is, until you look at the all the little things he does. I bet most oppo fans think like that because everyone knows what he’s capable of, like barnstorming runs and scoring tries. The good thing about him though is he has many strings to his bow, so if the running game isn’t working for some reason, he can still be effective in other ways.

Kikau just being there, on the field, automatically gives those players inside and outside of him more space and more time to do their thing. He commands attention from the opposition defence just by his shear presence. They know that he can burn them in so many different ways, a cut out pass, a sneaky off load, around their back, a lob pass, a dummy, step off the right, or left, acceleration or just a flat out power run straight at you. Even if he doesn’t do something in every play the opposition can’t afford to think that he won’t do it in the next play.

Then we get to his work off the ball, in defence, he can single handedly turn defence into offence.

Team Work

Agree with all your points.
Although maybe you are being too kind to Otukolo, one of the worst DH passing games I've seen, and Bryant is years away from being an NRL back-up. If ever. I thought he was the ball boy when he came on. Although he can pass.
If the idea with the subbing was to just get a few of the possible NRL bench players a bit fitter, like a trial match, then I guess that is OK.
But we do look alarmingly thin in back-up spine positions.

I just watched the whole reggies match again ... masochistic, I know.

But wanted to see if Match centre was right, after bagging Mick Potter.
They got Bryant and Otukolo's minutes back to front - Otukolo had 54 and Bryant 27.
So ...apologies Mick Potter - you get a 5/10 and Match centre gets 2/10.

Totally agree with you H.Oz about the DH service.
The ball boy has crisp delivery and he's quick ... but he's just too small atm.
Otukolo on the other hand threw some absolute trash from DH resulting in multiple turnovers.
He pissed off both O'Neill and Tia with basic DH errors. But physically he's up to it.

Any idea about Turpin?
In the meantime ...perhaps we can utilise Tia, O'Neill and Hutch more creatively?
Maybe a spot of DH for one of them?? Wonder which one of them would shine?
Tia is so good at 1st/2nd receiver, it would be a shame to waste his talents.
He put Jack Todd into a hole. Nobody else did that in the whole game.
Tia needs to be on the field for 80 (unless he's rooted).
And I have no doubt he would make a great #9. But he's a better #7.
Maybe Joey at #9?
Hutch would be a BIG #9 and he's a good talker....maybe?

Gotta inject Amone and/or Zyon back into the game in the 2nd half somewhere, surely??
Those boys ran with purpose and tackled with venom.
We need quick, tough, agile middles.
They both tick all those boxes.

Hopefully Potter & staff settle on a more stable roster soon, as TT suggested.
Harry probs back in Reggies next week.
So, who misses out?
The ball boy or Otukolo?
Surely not AJ??

And Taaffe needs to be back at fullback.
Bloody 18th man...
Maybe Taaffe is fullback and Harry is 18th man?

Hayes getting sent back to reserves after a monster game instead of a certain other player would be laughable. Unfortunately I can see Ciraldo doing exactly that.

1. Cochrane

6. O'Neill
7. Tia

9. Otukolo

13. Hutch

I'd persist with our future options in the spine TBH

What a perfect start to a year
I wonder the last time this happened

they kinda mentioned it on the telly. Think it was like we’ve only won 2 out of the last 10yrs rd 1s lol

I'm just throwing it out there but I think he looks like a scrotum would look in Siberia.

When he is on NRL360, I find pressing mute makes him sound much more intelligent and considerably more bearable.

Unfortunately, I haven't found a way to improve his appearance.

Hayes getting sent back to reserves after a monster game instead of a certain other player would be laughable. Unfortunately I can see Ciraldo doing exactly that.

It was Hayes best game in the top grade on the weekend. He has to hold his spot.

The scariest thing I heard floated this morning on the radio was Hayes might hold his spot as do Hayward & Salmon and Curran misses out which is crazy..

For mine pending fitness. (This won’t be the side) Curran starts at lock.
The bench picks itself. Salmon & Hayward back to cup.

13. Curran

14. Mann
15. Sitili
16. Hayes
17. Hughes (DSF starts, if Hughes still out with Morrin or one of the big boys from Cup.

please no Salmon or Hayward.

That's what I'd pick

Reactions: CMP
Mason has his say about Tuipoluto's antics :grinning: link is good

The Harry Hayes covering tackle on Val Holmes nearing half time was a highlight imo - didnt get mentioned - but a significant effort play.

Curran's issue is his ball handling - has some shockers - cant fault the effort.

I believe Mahoney should be the forward under pressure.

A question re Hayes or any players in fact.

Is on field performance enough? How many 'great games' makes someone undroppable?

Or do they need to show the same commitment and attitude at training? And away from the field?

I actually do get why people are questioning Hayes apparently being dropped as he was pretty damn good on the weekend.

But do we know the whole story? Do we know what he's been like in training since?

It's being made out it's the simplest of choices but I honestly don't agree.
