i read this in the paper today:
CRONULLA triathlete Emma foward grabbed kudos, while the Canturbery Bulldogs grabbed the attention when the second Cronulla-Canturbery triathlon was staged at sutherland on saturday.
Only a few montha ago, Foward ended up in hospital with a broken wrist and other injuries after a crash during the club championships.
She returned to win at the Nepean triathlon, then set a new Sutherland course record or 53min 02sec by easily winning the women's division of the race on saturday.
"She really is back on track", noted Bronwyn Elford, president of the Cronulla Triathlon Club, in between screaming out finishing times.
Sixteen-year-old Blake Field started ahead of the older Cronulla Tri Club men, streaking around the 400m swim, 15km bike and 4km run in 50min 55sec- and more than a minute ahead of the next finisher.
Some NRL clubs incorporate triathlons in their pre-season training routine and premiers Canturbery Bulldogs certainly believe in them.
After the first Cronulla- Canturbery event last yr, coach Steve Folkes and trainer Scott Campbell were enthusiastic about putting their squad to the test again, minus there internationals.
Foward Tony Grimaldi, a good swimmer, led the first grade squad home in a respectable 58min 50 sec. Not far behind and ahead of all of his team bar four was coach Steve Folies.
Bradely Clyde, the former test star abd club media manager, also excelled for a big man, beating home Braith Anasta, Luke Patton, Darren Smith and Matt Utai.
