Fox Sports Bulldogs Potential Signings

I agree with Gus that we are pretty well ok at the moment. We are in a position to see how things go for a change and don't have to desperately buy anyone.

We were a top 5 close to top 4 team last year and we have improved on this with a couple of solid forwards. We have also improved as a team and have more experience as well. That should at least consolidate our top 8 chances if not close to top 4 again.

As far as recruits and having enough players to cover positions and our lack of forward power I don't think we are too far off a solid pack. We have Hughes who will just get better this season and be dominant. Fifita has already had his appenticeship like Hughes at Souths and towards the backend of last season.

He just needs fitness and that should come this season with a full preseason with the Dogs. Then suddenly we have two big and dominant mids. Then we have King and Amone with Curran backing up. Thats a pretty good mid rotation. Lets see how they go.

Add to that the rest of the pack and its a pretty good and dominant pack potentially. Any pack with Fifita, Hughes, Sitilli, Amone and Kikau is not to be messed with. Add Preston, Mann and Curran and we are looking ok.

I think we are in a better position as far as backups and potentail solid first graders. Last year we had a few of our top 30 who we didn't use and were not good enough to get into and stay in first grade. But now I can't see too many weaknesses. Backups like Todd, Hayes, Underhill, Hayward, KO and Turpin as potential NRL players and could fill the void well.

So thats why I think Gus is not in a hurry to buy a big name forward as we enough potential in our own ranks to at least see how they go this season. If we get a couple of injuries of we may need to get some more fire power then I am sure there will be a young gun prop on the market before the june cut off.
Haywood shouldn’t be in 1st grade or ko or Turpin or Hutchinson hold up I gotta shit myself now speaking Hutchinson name !!!

I remember watching the game against the cowboys when Burton was off due to the head knock

We were getting smashed and Hutchinson was sitting on the side line laughing and mucking around with someone else on the bench

He has got to go
I can’t watch but Hutchinson play he will
Be next to go I hate his head his shit dummie passes he is slow and a shit player

We are stuck with him for 2025. Absolutely nobody will be chasing him to take him off our hands. I don’t even think Super League clubs would want him IMO.

Can’t we all chip in and ship him off somewhere maybe tigpies

glad we have Monty back, he is going to kill it for us. Watch him score many tires, he was amazing for the Warriors and has matured a lot since leaving us, has actually become a good footy player - we are now gong to see the best of him and he will repay the club where it all started for him.
Wilson surely will be picked on the wing in front of Montoya

Yep - that pissed me off too!

What about O”neil…is he ready for first grade? Hutch has to be one of the clubs worst signings.
He must of become shit very quickly, because before he was at the dogs I didn't think he was that bad and and one stage everyone was hyping him that he was going to be the next prodigy player

You’d think so… BUT Monty didn’t come back to Sit on the sidelines , once he gets a crack he will smash it for us. Glad to be proven wrong though, it’s all part of the banter :p

Hutch broke his leg at dragons as he was embarking an entry into the NRL, may have effected his speed although he was never known to be quick… more known for his organising, passing and kicking game whilst also possessing good defence. He was good at the chooks probably made to look better behind a star-studded international squad… in saying that, always gives 110%, a team player who takes no short-cuts.

His recruitment was similar to that of Salmon, came over to benchmark high standards at training, provide some leadership and add some depth.

Roosters semi final v Storm in 2023 they only had 18 available players Hutchinson was made 18th man. Politis couldn't wait to get rid of him. I was shot down when I said this wasn't a good signing and Gus should have promoted pathways players. We had already signed enough players.

This.

Head scratcher for sure.
Yeah me either maybe the Wahs told him he was free to go, even then he must have been cheap
His wife gave birth to twin girls in November, they have no support network in NZ, and she wanted to come home to Sydney so the family can help out. The Warriors released him one year early on those grounds.

His manager, Sam Ayoub, shopped him around the Sydney teams at reportedly a very reasonable contract value, but he always preferred us. My guess, and it is only a guess, is that his contract with us is very reasonable. If he only plays NSW Cup then it's not big deal, if he plays a few NRL games then it's a bonus.
