Well if you think they’re starting halves then you obviously wouldn’t trade them! Who you got as starting halves then?
Well, u talked up and paid up for Burton so he's one. As for the other, does it matter? None are good enough.

I've no idea why we think that somehow we'll grab someone from another club who hasn't been a starting HB when everyone is fit and they suddenly become good enough to be a starting HB here.

Hope I'm wrong but wouldn't be putting money on it.

Id be offering up kiks and jac as trade bait options. They are no use to us. If we can trade them for a gun fullback, prop or halfback thatd be great

And why are we offloading Taafe before hes played a game for us. And hes a much better player than molo
Yeh agree. Cannot see us trading any of the newly acquired players before they’ve even played a game for us. What would that say about the Dogs, as a destination for any future desirable recruit? Only would be a negative impact for us.
Gus/CC may potentially consider trading one of the aspiring young guns from ‘23 Flegg who is coming through. Even so, do not see player trades before ‘24 season start, as an option they will consider.

Its sadly not completely beyond the realms of possibility for us to trade off a new signing player who is yet to play a game or has play minimally for us

In recent history we saw new signings Davey shipped off after just 2 games,Nu brown after just 5, Frank Pele after just 6, Brent Naden after just 8 to name a few. All were shopped around within 6 months into multi yr contracts

This is contributing to a major recruitment issue we are facing with player trust in joining our club atm due to the merry go round culture weve developed since Gould joined

No way we’re trading Burton after re-signing him until 2027 - massive cap implications.

No thanks to Jack De Bellend - wouldn’t fit the culture the Bulldogs are trying to build. Plus we just signed Taffe, why would we swap him?

Highly doubtful JAC would be part of a trade.

Cowboys maybe…

I have no doubt no stone is being left unturned to find a solution to plug the gap of TPJ leaving a year early…
As much as I want a marquee prop I think it is bad for morale to push out a player that wants to stay, TPJ and Thompson were a massive let down but in all honesty considering what they've produced they won't be missed !!!
All that is needed now for our props to grow some confidence :-) to take the line on.
It would be a good idea to for them to call Wild man Robo and ask him how he did it !

For a trade to happen you need four parties to agree. Both Clubs & both players. It’s a very dangerous game for a club to play.

If they have a quality happy player they ask to be part of the swap. They would want to be very sure that that player would be open to do the swap before the approach.

The ramifications for morale not only for that player but his mates within the group.

Reaally well said.
All this squad recycling over the past few years has done a huge amount of damage to our Teamwork Index, and whats needed right now is some cohesive stability in team selection as well as fewer interuptions with injury.
It really is notable that this is first year in 4 years where we haven't gone and paid overs for the "available" talent in the market. Whilst there's more questions about our recruitment strategy at least we can say we didn't pay overs anmd got a lot of experienced talent from successful systems. And we signed them all for 2 years to get some stability.

Could you imagine the uproar if De Belin’s alleged assault was committed as a bulldogs player?
Possibly could imagine the uproar. In the spirit of this thread we could speculate for a while on the topic.

Onya Flipper - even though 10 new players have joined for 2024, there’s a ‘trust’ issue for recruitment :-).

All the players you mentioned were short term squad fillers at best. Davey now retired, Brown the big mouthed journeyman, Pele who didn’t want to lean in and Naden who can barely make the Tigers side.

Back to reality: what’s happened is establish some standards to bring in players willing to lean in and/or who can offer more than the Okunbors of the world. But yeah, there’s a ‘trust issue’ in joining the club…

Didn’t you know TPJ only left to boxing so he can play for another team.
Just wait for it:tearsofjoy:

Something has got to happen and fans arnt going to like it. It will most likely be Wilson or Skelton for a player like Greig. Seeing as we just signed Wilson and Skeltons contract ends this year maybe him. Would hate coming up against either of them, but probably needs to be done.
Definitely won't like losing either. But the reality is, with the new players we have, they are further down the pecking order now and are unlikely to see much fg.We might as well get something we need

These trades never seem to come off in league like they do in football, nfl etc, i think our salary cap complicates matters too much to make them worth the effort. in saying that, given the tigers seem keen on outside backs (olam interest) we probably should've made a move for Blore or big Stef, they might've been keen on JAC.
