I get that the Foran Salary is a sore point for pretty much everybody... but get over it. It was a deal made by a former coach and former administrators that have no further affiliation with the Club... The Club needs to evaluate every opportunity to take as much value as it possibly can. Forans Salary is gone, it cannot be renegotiated. For us to have let him go to another club, the club would need to be convinced that it would yield a positive return. We have no idea how much clubs were willing to chip in so, no reason to believe that we haven't extracted the best out of the situation that we could have.

The continual 'but is he worth the 1 million dollars we are paying him?' question, says more about yourselves than anything else. Do I think he will last the whole season probably not, will he be good for someone like Wakeham absolutely.

If we want to judge the club on decisions that they make, do it after this season and see how they have dealt with what is going on in the world and the roster it can build in preparation for next year.

Foran will never get a better opportunity to prove the doubter wrong about his fitness. He's supposedly in career best condition and will have the advantage of a very friendly schedule in terms of locations and timing.

With the pretty much every game on a Sunday and at Bankwest for the first 5 weeks he will be able to get in a routine with pre-game and post game management of his body.

I won't be holding my breath though and its probably a case of when he gets injured rather then if.

Fresh setback for injury-prone star on eve of NRL comeback

Bulldogs playmaker Kieran Foran headlines a list of big-name NRL stars racing the clock to be cleared in time for the re-launch of the season in round three.

Foran, 29, had a minor setback earlier this week when the Bulldogs half twinged a hamstring at Canterbury-Bankstown’s Belmore training venue.

But the most critical medical meeting for Foran will come on Tuesday when the playmaker sees his specialist for a final clearance on his rehabilitated shoulder.

If Foran gets the green light, the Bulldogs half will be named to face Manly on May 31 at Central Coast Stadium.

“Kieran has done an enormous amount of work since November, he’s gone above and beyond what’s been required,” Bulldogs CEO Andrew Hill said.

“No one here at the Bulldogs has been surprised by the amount of work he’s put in.

“We’ve left it until Tuesday to see the specialist so we give Kieran every opportunity to be ready for round three against Manly.”

Foran has played 26 games in the past two years for the Bulldogs and is determined to spend time on the field for the club.

In the final season of a three-year deal, the Bulldogs will monitor his return from shoulder surgery and a further AC joint complication before assessing whether to offer Foran a new contract.

The Bulldogs remain in dialogue with local junior Josh Reynolds but no deal has been struck and nothing is imminent.

The Brisbane Broncos have been buoyed by the guaranteed return of halfback Brodie Croft for Thursday’s season re-launch blockbuster against the Parramatta Eels.

Croft sustained a shoulder injury in the Broncos round two win over the Rabbitohs but has recovered well and will guide Brisbane in round three.

Broncos prop Matt Lodge is an outside chance of being available for selection.

My biggest concern with Foran getting injured again is the club panicking and getting Reynolds...........

"I haven't known him for too long but he said to me this is mentally the best he has felt and the best physically he has felt. They are two pretty big boxes to tick.

"We are really excited for him. He has worked really hard to get to where he is, so it will be good to get him on the field."
That's all we ever hear and then he starts limping around after two games and eventually injures himself again. What was the definition of insanity again?......lol

Twinged his hamstring.. What a surprise! Just when he was in the best shape of his life.. Quick, re-sign him for 500k!

I won't suggest that Foran is injury prone or this has anything to do with his previous hamstring injuries because I'm not a doctor and wouldn't want to offend Twin Turbo...

Bulldogs marvel at Foran's stunning recovery ahead of season return

Bulldogs teammates have again been astonished by the recuperative powers of Kieran Foran as the star playmaker edges closer to a stunning comeback in the May 31 clash with Manly.

The Kiwi international suffered a shoulder injury in last November's Test against Great Britain that was so severe Canterbury officials wanted an overhaul of the NRL's salary cap compensation rules for representative players.

After undergoing a shoulder reconstruction and surgery on his rotator cuff, Foran was expected to miss at least nine months and the Bulldogs believed the maximum $350,000 discount for players injured on representative duty was insufficient.

However, Foran may now only miss two Telstra Premiership matches as prop Dylan Napa declared him almost certain to line up against former mentor Des Hasler's Sea Eagles when the competition resumes next week.

"I expect him to be playing," Napa said. "He has been training really well so he should be playing. That is what I am expecting.

"I haven't known him for too long but he said to me this is mentally the best he has felt and the best physically he has felt. They are two pretty big boxes to tick.

"We are really excited for him. He has worked really hard to get to where he is, so it will be good to get him on the field."

A fit Foran will be a massive boost for Canterbury, who have been relying on promising but inexperienced halves in Lachlan Lewis and Brandon Wakeham.

He has been defending on the left edge alongside second-rower Dean Britt and winger Nick Meaney said Foran's presence lifted the confidence of the entire side.

"Having him back will be massive not only on the field but off the field," Meaney said. "We have got young halves and when he is back he will definitely help our team. We are all excited to be around him."

While no-one anticipated Foran being back so soon, Meaney said he made a quicker-than-expected recovery last year from an ankle injury that usually requires a three-month recovery.

"I remember when he did his ankle last year, he suffered a syndesmosis [injury] in the Tigers game and I think he came back after five or six weeks," Meaney said.

"For most people that wouldn't be possible. He must deal with pain a lot differently to other people with how he can come back from injury so quick and feel 100 per cent is crazy."

The return of Foran has been offset by the loss of winger Marcelo Montoya for up to three months with a hamstring tear as he attempted to return from a knee injury.

Off-season recruit Joe Stimson has been ruled out for the season after undergoing a shoulder reconstruction while fellow second-rower Corey Harawira-Naera was sacked over a pre-season incident in Port Macquarie.

Napa said the Bulldogs had forward depth and he was also unfazed by the return to one referee and introduction of the "six again" rule rather than awarding of a penalty for ruck infringements.

"Players have adapted to new rules every year and when the wrestle came in we adapted, and the rules changed again. It's just how it goes," Napa said.

"It is the evolution of the game of rugby league. I have loved it since I was a kid and I will love it when I finish."

If Foran gets injured once before the last game of the season I hope our own team put the boot in, he won't last the season, I hope he does but I doubt it.

All good, all his injury curses are behind him and he will power his way through the year having a stellar season.
Seriously the guy tries too hard, all he has to do is be there, jog about and set up a few tries like Mr cool.

Anyone thinking that Foran will give our club bang for buck for the remainder of the year is either a fool, or a dreamer. While still at Manly some of his team mates were saying THEN that he had the body of an old man, while at manly he always gave his very best and more, as a result he wore his body out. This fact was proven beyond any doubt after he left Manly. Foran is an old man now, the biological clock, is a clock you cant wined back.

No doubt foran has the will to keep fighting to get back on the field

but answer me this

Have the dogs received a return on their investment from foran at a million bucks a season?
No thats why he should be given another year on half of his current contract to pay back the dogs. Its not like the poor guy is milking it
