The Queensland Rugby League has today confirmed its support for the Western Clydesdales to enter the Hostplus Cup in 2023.

The announcement follows the QRL Board’s review of a detailed submission from the Clydesdales, who have worked closely with the QRL during the past 18 months to put in place the administrative, player and coach development, and commercial structures to support a Cup team.

It's crazy that the region has been without a team for this long. Its catchment covers half of qld...

The catchment area is massive now. We have pretty much north of Newcastle to Brisbane covered. Sure we won’t get them all but we are giving oursleves the best chance now.
Well done management...
Previous managements should never have abandoned junior developments !

A sparsely populated one. That said you get more natural footy players from these regions.
Toowoomba itself has more than 140k population which is almost Mackay and Rockhampton combined... and they both have Queensland cup teams. It's definitely an important league nursery. Let's hope it bears fruit (and lots of it) :grinning:

Obsessed :tearsofjoy:.
4 years after your Uncle Ray was deposed and still banging on about it. The obsession even spills over to a new handle. I thought @El Padrino was retired so to become a better citizen? No wonder the Godfather was demoted to a mid level boss (at best)… Relax, have a cup of tea and fill out some NAT 0046’s :-).

Our Premiership winning fullback from 1988, Jason Alchin has been named to coach the Clydesdales from 2023, further shoring up the co-operation between the two clubs given Alchin was previously working in pathways at the Bulldogs. Great if we can unearth some future talent for Belmore.

Going to be a big task getting 'locals' to leave their local club and play QCUP. This year for the U21 side they've struggled and based on comments from eligible local players they'd rather not play for the Clydesdales.
