A warm welcome to you on this beautiful Winter afternoon at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, where there is not a cloud in the sky and the temperature is perfect for footy at 19 degrees.
Today sees the Brisbane Broncos (5th place, 25 points) take on arguably the form team of the last month, the Canberra Raiders (8th place, 22 points).

What a great matchup we have to look forward to today. The Raiders are white hot and have been winning games on the back of sensational first up bursts, not to mention their round 14 shellacking of the Broncos (34 points to 16) in the nation’s capital.

The Broncos on the other hand will be looking to set course for a home final and so are desperate for a top four finish.
David Taylor steps up from QLD Wizard Cup duty with the Comets to take David Stagg’s (injury) spot on the interchange, and that is the only change for either side this afternoon.

Last five weeks' results:

Broncos - D B L W W
Raiders - L L W W W

The teams are as follows:

BRONCOS: 1. Karmichael Hunt 2. Denan Kemp 3. Darius Boyd 4. Justin Hodges 5. Kaine Manihera 6. Darren Lockyer (c) 7. Peter Wallace 8. Ben Hannant 9. Michael Ennis 10. Joel Clinton 11. Corey Parker 12. Sam Thaiday 13. Tonie Carroll
Interchange: 14 Ashton Sims 15. Greg Eastwood 16. Nick Kenny 17. David Taylor
RAIDERS: 1. David Milne 2. Colin Best 3. Adrian Purtell 4. Joel Monaghan 5. Justin Carney 6. Terry Campese 7. Marc Herbert 8. Troy Thompson 9. Ryan Hinchcliffe 10. Dane Tilse 11. Marshall Chalk 12. Joe Picker 13. Alan Tongue (c)

4 min: PENALTY - Raiders. Joel Clinton held on for too long in the tackle.

5 min: Peter Wallace takes the Campese cross kick well on the last and the Broncos will work it out from their own line.

6 min: Sensational set by the Broncos, as Darius Boyd busts the defence and runs 40 metres down the sideline. The move breaks down on the next play as Hunt looked to score but couldn't quite make it.

6 min: PENALTY - Raiders. Broncos inside the ten.

7 min: Raiders knock on through Milne, and the Broncos will feed the scrum.

Brisbane Broncos 12-6

37 min: Sam Thaiday absolutely pole-axes Marc Herbert but the little fella gets back up again, no worries.

39 min: Peter Wallace regathers his own chip on halfway, it was touched. and the Broncos have another six. Eastwood loses the ball close to the line. Letoff there for the Raiders.

HALF TIME

Brisbane Broncos 12
Canberra Raiders 6

What a half of football. Reminiscent of the Broncos and Raiders clashes of the early nineties, with the pill being thrown about to all corners. Look for the pace to slow in the second half, and this is where the little men in Campese, Lockyer and Wallace will come into their own.

Players coming back out onto the ground now.

42 min: Forward pass from Ennis at half has the Raiders attacking early on.

44 min: NO TRY. Jones was held up in a great Darius Boyd try saver.

75 min: Broncos forward pass to Hunt who was away. Hodges doesn't look a happy camper out there.

Broncos still werent at the top of their game, but showed in patches what they are capable of. A few really good tries in this game.

It sucks Kemp is leaving :(
Taylor did well in the time he had, should be there next week I think, he added more than Stagg generally does. But no doubt he'll get dropped.

Agreed about Kemp.
Knew he was going to go but we should have kept him, he's an awesome winger. FAST.
But how good is Boyd shaping up to be? he's really coming of age.

Raiders absolutely bombed at least 2 tries. The game sounds worse than it actually was.

Yeah, he sure has come along way. But we'll lose him too!! Kemp, Boyd are two players we should have been looking to keep. Moon is ok to lose because we never really gave him much of a chance to show what he had, so he didnt do anything that great.
