Blake Wilson

Wilson had more runs, more metres, more PCM and less errors than Montoya btw

The argument that Wilson gets dominated and is small is an absolute lie

Wilson 17 runs, 152m, 42pcm 1 TB LB 1 try 0 errors
Montoya 15 runs 134m, 34pcm, 1 TB 1 LB 1 try

Montoya was okay apart from his error (which will happen again) but Wilson proved he is the better winger
Being slightly better than Floptoya statwise doesn't make you good lol

The plan is that Kiraz is our first back up centre. With Wilson replacing him on the wing

Yh but I won't count him until I actually see him on the field lol

Wilson cops it because a certain group of fans are still salty about the JAC situation lol. Wilson at an absolute minimum is as good as the average NRL winger and personally I think he's better.
Wilson way better than people give him credit for. Higher ceiling than what we have seen.

I'm ok with Wilson being first picked for a wing. I think the only thing that Montoya had over him is that he made a couple of hits in defence that were bone rattlers. But Wilson was up against possibly the biggest winger playing this week. Was taking a few players to bring him down consistently.

As far as it goes, I thought both wingers did ok for us. It looked like the forward pack carried more weight with meterage this week.

I thought overall we were a bit scrappy with completions. But at this stage I don't expect to be polished. But hopefully the improvements to our forward rotation means our backline aren't in the firing line quite as much.

I've been a Wilson fan since before he was first promoted to NRL.
The first thing I look for in a Bulldog is attitude and commitment.
Both Wilson and Montoya have that in spades.
After that they need to do the job asked of them. Which again both those players offer.
If they can do all that and also offer an X-factor, break tackles, score tries from bombs into on their own tryline, like say Cobbo, then that is great but it starts to eat into the salary cap.

Wilson was rated higher than Selton but I'm not so sure now. Would have been great if we had Skelton now playing instead of Montoya. Wilson doesn't seem to have much impact now

Had poor defence yesterday but was solid otherwise. Still deserves his spot. It’s not like we have a better option currently. I watched NSW cup and JF. No one would be better out of those teams. Only Kiraz can/will demote him.

Exactly. Should have stopped atleast one of the tries. 1 we were short in defence with no critta in the line so hard to stop. But he should know this and get the defence better organised if they were short.

Ran up to the centre a few times and his winger was unmarked. Probably one of the worst defensive wingers in the comp. Definitely bottom 5 for sure. If he can improve this and be safe with ball in hands he will do an ok job.

I watched the defensive line out that side on a few plays. The whole line left overlaps. I thought he did well to not panic and rush up. In previous seasons the backline would jump the gun and try to shut things down earlier and leave no defenders to slide out. It's an area the whole edge needs to work on before we're back at our best.

lol one of the worst defensive wingers. You blame him when we were short a player and u blame him when there was an overlap and he tries to slide across to cover. what the fuk do you want him to do? Don’t understand all the hate on Wilson

Wingers are the easiest players to bag on the field and our fans love bagging our wingers and 5/8. Someone on the right hand side not numbering up correctly.

Wilson is a very good winger and I'm happy Gould & Ciraldo see fit to select him in the side.

The players on the inside of the winger not numbering up never get the blame. Wilson always tries hard not to rush up but slide across to cover for overlaps and he cops it when a try is scored

coach can only put on the field the best of what he has to pick from, at this moment its wilson and montoya

Right edge defence has been a worry for a few games dating back to end of last season
We need this addressed still got anxiety from when Manly scored that miracle try and beat every right edge defender

Its our weak point. There was a stat last year quoting try numbers per side. It was chalk and cheese. I always feel safe when a side attacks our left side defence. Unless it’s Olakauatu, thats beasts unstoppable.
