Its not that the players are not trying its that they are not good enough. Getting angry at them isn't going to increase their talent.
I'm not too sure they are really trying in defence. When you get 40 to 50 points put on you I think it's a lot about not turning up / effort areas.

Could also cause a massive rift amongst the players and coaches..
They are all paid to perform and everyone at the club knows who is going well and who is struggling. If a struggler is banished to cup it’s just the nature of the beast. One players loss is another’s gain but I think we can all vouch for getting the shits with someone in the workplace that gets away with doing fuck all. Let alone having the same job, doing fuck all and getting paid more for it.

I really can't see Barrett getting too angry at players when they don't perform. Just can't see it in his nature at all and I think he's doing a disservice to himself (and the team) by being Mr Nice Guy. Players laughing and joking after the game should be moved on or at least dropped. Why the f..k he keeps picking Katoa ahead of Dietz I can't understand although in Katoa's case I think it's more about lack of skill rather than effort. At the post game presser Barrett mentioned about five times that the Eels were a "big team" as if we got monstered. More excuses.

Todd Payten isn't shy in letting players know the truth and the Cows are now performing better than expected.

Funny how Des used to rip doors off hinges when at Manly then while with us he remained calm and seemed to accept defeat (and always pick the same players) but I see back at Manly again he's showing passion again in the dressing sheds.

Barrett needs to make the players more accountable for their actions. Not keep selecting and making excuses for players who don't turn up.

I'm not saying we should sack him as I think he's intelligent and the shelves are pretty bare for decent coaches. He just needs to show / teach the players as much passion when we lose as he does when we win.

We should shed any player who has an NRL career win ratio less than 55%. We need to get rid of losers who are comfortable with and accept losing.

Elliott 33.33%
Jackson 46.34%
DWZ 45.65%
Hopa 43.71%
Napa 51.52%
Wouldn’t the whole team be under 55%

Exactly. Barrett literally cannot do anything else with the roster until round 11, and even then, we’re still stuck with mostly reserve graders.
I think considering how our team is traveling round 11 can’t come fast enough to give some development players a shot.

He hints at conferences that he doesn’t want to discuss things in public And he will talk to the place personally I think he gives them a piece of his mind and let him know what he thinks

If you have a well serviced Ferrari that is driving like a Datsun, then sure you have every right to be angry.

If you have a Datsun that is driving like a Datsun, you can't get pissed off at anybody

I think the 6 again era has had a significant impact on the ability of less skilful talented players to compete.
Team chemistry is another. All the top sides have established systems and a playing group that has played together for a while and they simply react faster. This is almost always the case in sport but with the rule changes these sides have an even bigger advantage until the others catch up.

Im interested in seeing the selections after round 10 BUT the development contracts have been poorly managed as well - used to entice players to sign rather than reward better players and their performances - maybe there are few spots for players outside of the current contracted lot that can play.

Don't be paying out Datsuns.. My uncle had a yellow 120Y that flew. Although the braking and handling weren't great. Haha
