Can someone post an update when its over? i wont be able to listen.
Nothing much we haven’t already heard:

- He respects the history and success of the club and wants to bring back that success

- Acknowledges the club has passionate fans and that’s obvious walking around Belmore to grab a coffee

- Was a Dogs fan growing up and Terry Lamb was his favourite player

- Says defence is important and attack will evolve.

- Says backline pace is important

- Says he’s happy to have Flanno as a game manager, composed kicker and will put the right players around him (mentioned it’s no secret they are after Burton)

- Then the call dropped out. Heaps and Tunksie must’ve run out of 20c pieces :-).

Our defense was amazing even at the start of the pay era. Our attack has been on decline since that fucking bell got rang in the 2014 grand final
Yeah that’s why I was surprised he said it.
Thought it would be more attack focussed.
But I guess he’s not going to give away too much on a radio show two days into the job...

The best part of his conversation was that there are some players like Renouf, Ogden that he named have untapped potential and with the right coaching we’ll see more output from them & others! 1000% true

Surprised how open he is about burton. You’d be so chuffed having a coach front the media saying we want him. So unlike coaches. E.g Bennett said he didn’t want arrows, James, Mitchell, gagai. But guess where all 4 went?

Nice to hear he is a no bullshit coach in that regard.

So Burton is a done deal?
No he was joking. He said something to the effect of "if we land Burton". It sounds like we've made the offer and now we're just waiting for his response. Actually he doesnt sound very confident about getting Burton...over the last 2 days it sounds like it's a 50-50 deal

T-Baz is back:

- Likelihood of Burton: ‘We’ve had numerous meetings with Burto, it’s his decision for 2022 onwards’ (obviously leaving out the part they’re trying to get him for 2021).

- Heaps suggested the gap from 8-16 isn’t huge.

- Says big difference between assistant and head coach. Comfortable with attack and structures. Furner is defensive coach. Has a clear idea of what he wants the coaching staff to be.

- Hooking position contentious: says Wakeham could become a 9 if they ‘put time into him’.

- Fullback they have some options - has a pretty good idea now who he wants there. Mentioned Meaney and Averillo.

- High Performance team hugely important. Cannot go into a season unfit and that’s a focus.
Acknowledges that some games in 2020 may have been lost due to fitness (without criticising previous coaching staff) - says ‘I won’t let it happen’ (not being fit and up to the task).

Fuck yes, he's talking about fitness and defense. He actually addressed the issues we've been complaining about for years - out lack of fitness is costing us at the back end of games. He vowed that wont happen again
Finally someone who gets it

Wants to focus on defence and fitness.
They also won't be going after a hooker this year.

Lost a lot of close games, need luck, pushing bottom of 8 - aspirational
-will need to work hard

Q: Attacking coach to head coach
Gap year after Manly provided clarity and assessed standards
Systems/structures in attack is very comfortable with coaching
David Furner as Defence coach
Responsibility away from head coaching
Time and thought who is on coaching staff + HP

Q: Flange is a big plus - thoughts on rest of spine
Hooking contentious for a while
JMK, Katoa, Wakeham possible
Need one of these, every opportunity will be extended to bring one of them up
FB - Hop, Meaney, Avo (5/6 or FB - terrific attacking player)
Important to get D splits right
Work to do
Spine needs to be settled and not chop/changed weekly

Q: Who's most important person outside head coach
High performance team
Strength and conditioning
Can't go into season not fit
Storm: Fit/big/strong; good on ground
Regardless of ability, if not fit, no results

Q: Were you surprised by the fitness of the Bulldogs?
["We" in answers]
We lost games at the back end
They'll be fit and they'll be ready round one
