They are literally incapable of giving him credit for anything and will constantly deflect at every moment. We all know he isn't a natural halfback, we all know he would probably do better at centre but ultimately he didn't play bad on Sunday and in this moment he is a better option than all our halfbacks at the club. Considering they're all so focused on him you think they'd also realise he was playing injured through those conditions but again not a word is spoken.

They think it's so easy, they just completely disregard what we're actually doing and think a 'natural halfback' is the solution to everything. If these other blokes are solutions then why haven't they played more for us? Why haven't other clubs picked them up? You've got the Cowboys spending 700k on Townsend. Warriors spending good coin on SJ who's injured already. Broncos spending a fortune on Reynolds who barely trains and missed this week due to 'soreness'. It's hard, there is no simple fix and clubs are going to great risks to try and find halfbacks today.
All true ...but....BBO and Wakeham haven't been given REAL opportunities at 7.

Not 6 or 9....but 7 which are their REAL, most experienced positions that they played all their junior and grade careers.

That's my worry on our 7 selection. That those guys haven't been given a decent chance to show their suitability at organising or offering better attack in their natural positions and Avo has just fallen into the spot bc of his potential and athleticism.

He may well go great alongside Burton but he doesn't look to have the nous for 7 and it may well be jeopardizing his career with him already being compared to Mbye.

No one wants that outcome for him. We can all see there's a great little player in there and a cherished junior.

Anyway its just fans opinions. Baz will decide.

Because training exists and match day isn't the place for trying different players and giving everyone a go.

He went ok on Sunday, one of the things that helped him was that He and Burto and up the Duff managed to combine a fair bit. As I recall this style of play was flagged after the last trial as something they were working on, so credit to Baz and the crew for getting it to happen. The other problems they have is the line is too shallow too much of the time, and JMK doesn't nail his passes as often as he should. On the first issue, that will take time and confidence, the team is geared to a conservative approach for reasons (see last 6 or 7 years). On the second issue, consult the contract with Reed Mahoney.

All Avo has to do is keep improving so that he hits his plays, nail most of his short range kicks, and not be a liability in defense, and he will do fine as a halfback alongside Burto. He has some decent natural footy instincts, and needs to learn how to confidently use that spontaneity dynamically within the system that the team is using and the strengths of the players around him.

Cause the other halfbacks don’t get a fucken proper opportunity like Averillo has!! They chopped and changed the 6 all year last year. Not once was Averillo held accountable for our losses! That’s why no other club has taken them. What game time do they have to go off? Moron

He catches, sprints and then dishes the ball on, or he runs and dummys

He’s to easy to defend against, he’s not a real halfback
Who knows if he’ll develop into one but the Averillo at halfback experiment has to end at least for now

EVen Meaney looked better at 5/8 in his first game for the Storm
If Averillo's try was awarded on the weekend youd be slobbin all over him

Because it's not criticism. Most of it goes far beyond criticism and is just attacking him. Burton kicked out on the full and not a word was spoken. Burton concedes and 7 tackle set at a crucial time and again not a word is spoken. Burton throws a sloppy pass that almost leads to us conceding a try and once again not a word is spoken. People just want to blame everything on Jake and that's all they want to see.
In case you missed it, Burtons kicking game won us that match. It’s ok to make a few errors when 90% of everything else you do contributes to winning the game

Mate its called agenders, people on here that constantly bag players, imo should be banned. Its proven they havnt laced a boot before and it brings down this site for the real supporters.
Were you around when we had a bloke called Josh Reynolds playing for us? I think you’re preaching to the wrong bloke

JMK nullifies that spine.
Put Cook at 9 and BBO as 14 to cover half and hooker. Does anyone know if our players especially hookers ever do any passing accuracy skills in their training? The old sunday footy show pass the ball in to the hole target thing competition comes to mind. Still so many passes go behind the shoulder of the target player instead of in front of their chest.

In Burton we finally have a player in our team that can kick the ball well beyond 50 metres and bombs that go higher than the stadium roof. Our other halves can barely kick the ball 30 metres in general play.

he was very good yesterday, played his role, got us around the park, should have been given the try imo. Lets not forget how many times Burton was caught with the ball on the 5th and 6th tackles, if that was Averillo the nuffies would be going nuts.
shit weather for a half, lets hope we get a dry track on sunday
Why do you want a dry track. Hope it rains heavy again. We just won on a heavy track why change it.

Cause the Broncos have a bigger pack, and a heavy track hurts us in that environment. Broncos have more strikepower than the Cowboys did. So best it's dry so we can move them around more.

Well that was a fun read.
I dont get alot of the heat in here.
7 is chosen for now. We all know we dont have a first grade 7 so no use chopping and changing, there will never be cohesion or a foundation to work from. Combinations will never form.

Was good seeing Avo, Burton and JMK talking to 1 another and seeing Avo link up with Burton a couple of times in the second half.

It was clunky, wet, humid, a bit of Desball all rolled into 1.

Wont happen overnight, atleast there where glimpses of what could be.
Looking forward to Sunday.

You must read those race form guides like me. LOL
If they won on a wet track before statistically they can do it again.

I didn't know that having "laced on a Boot before" was part of the criteria for joining the Kennel. I thought you just had to be a supporter.
