the addition of eastwood/pritchard means we have more threat over the park.we seem to have most positions covered and it will be exciting to see how hodkinson? goes with roberts.watching him it seems like his kicking game is improving.hes a tough looking half and im surprised manly didnt lock him up.seems to grown but next year will be the test.:grinning:

Our attack this year should have been scary.

New signings and positional changes mean nothing, we should have had a very capable team this year and had crap so no guarantee that we will have anything next year.

Our attack should be great if the right structure and coaching is in place (play with depth and no inside balls or hero balls from Ennis every play please) but our defence will be extremely suspect, especially with Barba who will be tested at the back. People don't realise how tough, strong and fearless fullbacks have to be these days. They cop a bigger hammering than any other player. Plus we haven't slowed down one play the ball or had two markers set all season. That has to change next year or we won't win a thing even if our improved attack scores 30 a game.

lol... i can just imagine it...

Ennis out of dummy half, last tackle, gives the ball to Hodkinson, it's Hodkinson, a looong cut out pass to Pritchard, Pritchard speeds at the line, full pace, breaks free of three defenders, offloads to Idris, Idris is wrapped up from behind but he'll throw the ball back to Turner, Turner back centre field, Keating's with the ball, passes it to Stagg, Stagg advances to the line, passes to Roberts, Roberts to Eastwood who advances full pace at the line, offloads back to Roberts, run around, he'll pass it out wide to Barba, he'll break through the line! Barba is through, he has two defenders to beat! He'll pass it outside to Goodwin, Goodwin with a kick back inside, and MORRIS S ON THE BALL! IT'S A TRY TO THE BULLDOGS!

Barba will be one to watch if we are close to the line and a bomb goes up. Can cut through anywhere on the field to put pressure on kicker or take the high ball.

Barba will need to play a roaming fullback role to be dangerous.

Re Barba's defence.. it's a non issue if everyone up front does their job.

Fullbacks rarely make tackles these days unless someone breaks the line and puts them in a last ditch effort.

E.G Patten over the last 10 years has made an average of 3.7 (say 4) tackles per game. Even if he's not played every game over 10 years, still there would only be maybe 8-10 tackles a match MAX he has had to make.

I dont think anyone is questioning barbas attacking skills, i believe he posesses the potential to be able to make a great fullback but i am more concered that he will put his body on the line to save a try.

A lot of it will depend on the team being well organised. Roberts will cover one side very well, Ennis is more than capable but Hodkinson will be our main concern, hopefully he kills it. we'll have great service out wide if we do get Eastwood as well. Salivating so much. Would just be great to have both Eastwood and Pritchard out wide with good attacking centres plus young halves who'll support well and a fullback with great vision and all the elusive skills needed to take advantage of most situations (had to edit out spelling errors here, getting excited). I'd see how Paea goes as our prop rotation from the bench with Tolman and Tandy starting or even starting Paea and leaving Tolman on the bench. Bench of Keating, Eastwood, Paea/Tolman and whoever earns a spot in the trials. It's going to be an impatient off season for me.

We will have so many options in attack, its just a matter of getting the right balance on which plays to use and who to use. The good thing is that we will have both sides if the field to attack from rather then just the left side.

It will be interesting to see whether Moore introduces new plays or just sticks to what we have been using. This year we were so predictable as we pretty much used 09 plays. Moore will need to develop new strategies, this year we simple used the left side with roberts, or idris coming from the inside or the bomb and ennis' kicks in behind, which will not work as many teams have figured us out. With pritchard/eastwood we will have second phase play and should worry many teams.

The pritchard/morris or idris/eastwood combos should go really well with hodkinson and roberts giving them alot of ball. it will be interesting to see whether barba will get involved in attacking plays like hayne does, because patten didnt at all this year
