I’m not convinced on Ciraldo yet but the simple fact is unless we address the front row he’s being set up to fail in 2024 and there’s only so much he can do.
Being set up to fail implies that CC has no say on recruitment, which is incorrect. He is choosing this route so he must cop the results.

And if he isn’t having a huge say on recruitment then something is seriously wrong with our football dept structure.

Either way his ass is on the line props or no props

Measure our expectations I vaygley recall but there was no mention of regression which is what happened. Worst for and against in the comp its truly miraculous that we avoided the spoon

I believe the same meeting 90% of attendees gave gould a standing ovation before a balls kicked lolembarrasing stuff. Thankfully I was one who remained seated.

Ciraldo has 6-12 months tops to salvege his job and maintain some sort of credibility for gould

The Assistant had plenty of excuses last year, looks like 2024 excuse will be "no middles".

I hope he has learnt how to pick a side and how to actually rotate the bench. I'm not death riding him (don't need to as he is death riding himself), I want him to either perform or fuck off.

My observations are that player recruitment involves the whole coaching staff, they all have various levels of input. But it is the GM of Football that manages the Salary Cap compliance. The coaching staff may well want a particular player to fill a specific role but if his/her ask doesn't fit in the Cap then the GM of Football will have the last word.

Sooooo.
In your secret theory who did Gould think he was going to employ coach for one year until ‘CC was ready’ after he turned down the biggest rookie contract in history a few weeks before equaling getting the biggest rookie history from his long term mentor that you have confirmed was indeed pure coincidence and completely unrelated and anyone who says otherwise is a clown ??

There’s nothing ‘secret’ about it at all. I never said it was unrelated, but what you’re wrong about is that Ciraldo was 100% at the Tigers until Gus gazumped it.

I’ll get the crayons out and draw you a picture:

- Barrett was contracted to the end of 2023.
- Ciraldo came into the frame for the Bulldogs for 2024 when it was clear a few rounds into 2022 things weren’t working with Barrett - let’s say mid-April. Why? Gould originally didn’t want a new Bulldog head coach for 2023 believing it would be a baptism of fire.
- Potter was sounded out to coach Bulldogs in 2023 if Barrett was to leave before the end of 2022 - as he was already in the group and the Mounties agreement was expiring at the end of 2022 anyway and the Bulldogs had already re-instated their NSW Cup team in 2022, of which Tangles was the coach.
- Panthers extend Cleary to 2027 mid-April 2022, sealing Ciraldo’s exit as he wasn’t getting that job.
- Tigers approach Ciraldo early May 2022 BEFORE Barrett leaves the Bulldogs.
- Barrett departs Bulldogs mid May 2022, earlier than thought and hence Potter plan is brought forward and activated for 2022, not 2023.
- Tigers sack Madge early June 2022 thinking they have their man in Ciraldo for 2023. As part of this, Ciraldo visits the Concord CoE, which leaked to the media same day. He had not yet informed Panthers of his plans to leave and he was pissed and had trust issues with the Tigers hence he decides to knock them back late June 2022. He chose his words carefully too - ‘Not ready at this stage of his career’ - keeping his options open with Penrith, even though they now know he’s likely to leave courtesy of the Tigers.
- Ciraldo then engages with the Bulldogs, the plan still being for 2024 with Potter to coach the Dogs in 2023 as Gould told Ciraldo 2023 would be a tough year and he could stay at Penrith another year and win another Premiership (which ended up happening, without Ciraldo). Ciraldo tells Gould ‘If it’s going to be a fight I want in now’ saying he was prepared to come earlier. Ciraldo was much more comfortable with the way the Bulldogs did business and also their talks never leaked until they were spotted in the Laundy pub The Locker Room in late July 2022 by which time the deal was approaching completion and the Panthers already knew Ciraldo was likely to leave anyway.
- Ciraldo resigns from the Panthers and the Dogs announce his appointment mid-August 2022 saying they would not comment further until the end of the season to allow Ciraldo to focus on Penrith.

So - in summary - the Tigers pretty much lost Ciraldo due to their own incompetence - confirmed by the guy in that organisation who I know - his own words: ‘We royally stuffed that up’ and hence they pivoted to making Noddy caretaker then Sheens interim coach until Benji was ready, which also failed. Their incompetence was confirmed recently with the sacking of the board which should’ve happened earlier.

That’s the story, that’s the truth and your insistence that Ciraldo is at Belmore and not Concord because Gus derailed the Tigers deal is wrong.

You’re not a clown not for ‘saying otherwise’ - but for constantly shit talking (we note how the hood speak drops when needed) and because you constantly get wrong or deliberately twist what others say - for what purpose only you know and no-one else cares.

Ok but there’s a few things you didn’t know or has overlooked
I saw Gus say in the media that potter did not want to coach the doggs and even said ‘if he does he hasn’t told me’ so he has indirectly implied potter was not on the radar.
Also you seem to throw heavy weight on the fact that tigerpies approached CC before Barrett got axed.
Yes that’s true but I think it’s clear once negotiations occurred, Gould whispered to CC to not take the job because in a few weeks he will have an opportunity at doggs.

this is why CC turned down the role. He knew, privately and on the down low that in a few months Barrett’s role was his. Just optics to not axe barrett straight away.
The idea that CC turned down the 5 year tigers gig because it was leaked to the media is laughable. He could literally have set himself up for life on that gig.
But it makes perfect sense that he will turn it down when his actual mentor offered him the same.

Once again the BIG FAT TELL is the fact he signed a 5 year deal with the doggs.
To me this is anecdotal proof that Gould said he will match the tigers offer.
By your own admission in your messsge it is known barrett won’t see out his contract.
Also this idea yiu casualky throw out that we would just give up on year 2023 without a fight and throw it just to look after a coaches career is laughable in professional sport.

Basically the Tigers stuffed it up, all on their own, like they always do.

The word I hear is one of the Tigers Board, in an attempt to big note himself, blabbed about Ciraldo being all but signed up as their new coach. As anyone who knows the Tigers will confirm, that's far from unusual.

Sigh. I need a new set of crayons…

- True Harry didn’t want to be permanent Dogs coach, interim he was happy to do it or he was out of a job when the Mounties deal concluded end of 2022.
- There is more I know from my contact at the broader WT org, so I KNOW they pounced on Ciraldo when Penrith announced Cleary’s extension. I also KNOW he (and others) thought it stupid to bring Ciraldo in during business hours with WT staff and builders (new CoE still being built at the time) around. The Werris however wouldn’t do it at night. Unsurprisingly it leaked.
- No, CC turned Tigers down as he had concerns about their org. He believed they had the beginnings of a good squad to build on. The leak just sealed his doubts that they were a dysfunctional org and they are.
- Of course a 5 year deal was tabled - Dogs weren’t going to ask him to wait a year then come for 2 maybe 3 - it had to be compelling. Nothing to do with ‘matching’ - Tigers were already out of the equation.
- It became expected Barrett would leave earlier than his contract as the results showed he couldn’t turn the tide, but not as early as he did. That’s how they were able to move quickly on Harry - seeds already sewn. No-one ever said anything about ‘giving up’ on 2023 - just that it was going to be hard to attract a new long term head coach under the circumstances at the time.

But you keep being right, even though you’re not when someone at the broader WT org is how I know.

I’m off to OfficeWorks to get a new set of crayons :-).

That’s more or less it. The arrogance mixed with incompetence was a disaster, not unlike @Nasheed :tearsofjoy:

There’s a bit more detail but at the end of the day Gould did not gazump that deal. He simply took advantage of the Tigers once again shooting themselves in the foot. It happened time and time again until the leadership were finally punted.

With the strong squad Gould has put together there is a very good chance Ciraldo won’t be here by round 26 next year if he doesn’t perform. Early favourites would be Potter if Ciraldo gets sacked, there’s rumblings of Bennett in 2025 but that would require Gould to put aside his Ego
Its not just CC but also Jason Taylor and Luke Vella (Jersey Flegg winning coach) and I am sure Gus puts his 10 cents worth in as well when it comes to coaching. So if we can't perform at least better considering all this then something fundemental is wrong.

But I can't see how they will fail. They have ticked all the boxes as far as fitness, culture, development and hopfully better defence considering CC is one of the best defensive coaches and I am sure we have a specialist attack coach and Potter will advise. But I know our attack will be good as we seen glimpses this year and now we have a better and faster lineup.

We cannot but get better just by the systems and imput we have implemented which will naturally improve things.
