The more I look at it the more I find this so called Magic Round to be an abomination. There’s no way it can be fan attendance friendly, so it’s 100% just for TV and even then I can’t see any benefit as a viewer. The only winner is the broadcaster who can set up once for the whole round rather than move from ground to ground, day to day or have 2 crews because the games are back to back in different venues. What do they expect more Bulldogs fan to travel to Brisbane than would attend a home game? They need their heads read if they think that.
As has been pointed out many times, it’s a team Physio/doctors nightmare with the ground bound to be chewed up by Saturday morning let alone Sunday afternoon. How many players are going to turn ankles, twist knees, strain ligaments etc before they realise it was a dumb idea.
I just don’t get it, it’s nothing more than a talking point, a publicity stunt, one that has far more downsides than upsides. In fact as a fan I can’t see any upsides. What am I missing here?
