Warburton would do good at Melbourne, IMO.
Or maybe he can join DJ and Patten at Salford? :p

So point of the thread: Even if we overspend on Jamal and pay him more than he's worth because his price is driven up, we won't have to lose good players, can still re-sign youngsters and can still bolster the squad a bit. Plus be in decent shape to re-sign guys in 2012 like Barba, Stagg and Keating if he proves worth it.

Now, for me, I can forget about contract sh*t for the rest of the season and concentrate on footy and footy only.

I hope this thread helped anyone else in any way. Again, it's all guesswork but work has been put into it, I've tried to make it as accuarate and fair as possible and think either way we're in great shape to let this roster grow.

Whether we can make one more big signing or not like a big name prop like we always get linked with, I doubt it but would love it if we could. I think that would be our last piece to put us over the top.

Idris will settle for much less Benny,

This is a ploy to get a boost up on the current offer ... Greenburg is smart, he sent him to Newcastle for a very good reason. Idris now knows we offer more then they do other then the money.

So in effect he strengthened our ability to bid less and STILL secure him

Also, with the new TV rights deal not far away we can afford to over pay NOW (lose a player over it) then re-purchase that player (or of equal quality) when the cap is boosted
Agreed. Jamal won't want to leave Sydney. Apart from the fact that his family are up in Forster, there is nothing else he'll find appealing about Newy area.

^^ I disagree, we need Idris

Not just from a playing point of view, but his worth his weight in gold from a marketing point of view as well IMO
Yes. He would make more of his money from 3rd party sponsorships. He'd also make money from nightclubs and events paying him to make appearences which is something he'd love.

Bulldogs Sign Dene Halatau
14/08/2009 2:47:34 PM
The Bulldogs have today added another International to their impressive 2010 playing roster by securing the services of premiership winning Kiwi International Dene Halatau on a three year deal.

Unfortunately 3 years, I honestly dont think he is needed in our squad... I can only see him being used to cover for injuries when we are at full strength
When he's not injured himself...
In saying that, he's quite explosive at his best.

Did I say they didn't know what they were doing and that this wasn't speculative? Thanks Sherlock!

The whole point of this thread is to point out that people shouldn't panic, despite us having a lot of high priced talent, Greenberg has managed the cap so well that we have re-signed everyone, will be able to re-sign and upgrade key youngsters, and will have a little extra money to sign more depth players and maybe a decent top 17 player.

The whole point of the thread is to praise management and Greenberg!

Idris 400k!!! No way I would want the club to pay that much for him, Hopefully the club can organise some decent 3rd party payments for him which wont affect the cap. But at the end of the day I hope we dont go into a ridiculous bidding war for him.
