Bulldogs superstar Josh Addo-Carr has reportedly resolved his differences with the club following a meeting with general manager of football Phil Gould.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald his playing future at the Bulldogs was in doubt ahead of a meeting on Friday.
The Herald reports the Bulldogs were frustrated with Addo-Carr after he was involved in two controversies in the last fortnight.
Meanwhile, the representative winger felt the club hadn’t supported him enough through the incidents.
However now, according to WWOS, Addo-Carr will be a Bulldog for years to come with Gould explaining the pair had a “good chat”.
“Josh has had an eventful couple of weeks. He was most apologetic and keen to redeem himself. Pressure and stress can manifest itself in different ways at times,” Gould said.
He also revealed Addo-Carr had reached out to NRL powerbrokers to “personally offer his apologies” following the pair of indiscretions.
Addo-Carr received a two-match suspension last week for his involvement in a brawl at the Koori Knockout, costing him a Kangaroos jersey.
However the 28-year-old is reportedly appealing the sanction.
Then this week he shared a controversial post on social media, which he later apologised for. Addo-Carr compared the Middle East conflict to Indigenous land rights.
Addo-Carr had posted a photo of Aboriginal and Palestinian flags next to each other with the caption “One struggle, one fight” while the phrase “Land Back” was accompanied by two Arabic words.
Via a statement, Addo-Carr later said the post was “a mistake”. He apologised for “any offence” he caused and said he “felt remorse” as soon as it was brought to his attention that he had got it wrong.
Before the two controversies Addo-Carr’s future at the Bulldogs was reportedly already clouded.
He is the club’s biggest name and arguably best player, who is contracted until the end of 2025. However reports claim that the club expects more from him as a senior player.
Addo-Carr joined the Bulldogs in 2022 after five seasons — and two premierships — with the Storm.
He had a disappointing first season in his new colours and as a result lost his spot in the New South Wales Origin side.
But a statement month of performances for the Kangaroos in last year’s Rugby League World Cup — and six tries in his first seven games this year — helped him earn a recall.
He was picked in the Kangaroos squad for the upcoming Pacific Championships but his suspension forced coach Mal Meninga to drop him from the side and bring in Penrith’s Dylan Edwards.
