Papalii, Hayward, O'Neil, etc I don't want to get too excited but the future is looking very good. Once these players mature, our club will be in a very good position to challenge for the premiership.
This is what Gould has been working toward. Bring up the talent from our younger grades, as a unit. Not just one player to fill in a gap, but bring up a spine that knows how each other plays, and use that winning combination.

One thing for sure is that there are 3 or 4 better playmakers that are ahead of Burton.

Another headache is Wilson, he looks like he's ready for a full time spot in FG but we've got so many outside backs.
Skelton is the big unit we need on the wing. Wilson and Skelton are ready for a permanent position, but what do we do with Kiraz and Ado-Carr?

Looks like this year the Dogs have the opposite problem of past seasons. Too much talent to fit into the top side.

He could easily make it as 6. But his positional play and how he sweeped around from short side to set up the shift for one of our tries was class.
His talk and energy amping players up, I'd want him out the back yapping all game. Hopefully club sees it that way quickly, would love to see him eventually linking up with Critta
Pretty sure that the club won't be letting him go.

The bi polar kennel is in full swing. The same flops and cucks now sucking off the player they bag or team they bag are now praising the team. We looked good, some of the same players doing shitty mistakes ( knight , Reed ) but other then that it seems gus plan has been working well regarding the juniors and the fact it’s all coming up as one not just one player. They are all young and growing together , can already see the presence critta has with ado carr. Two talkers out there.

very happy

A lot of positives tonight but for me sexton and papalii were the standouts. I’ll wait to judge our pack against better opposition. Anyone know how long we have papalii signed up for?
Hayward and O'Neill were also a potent combination.

They probably would find a full on first grade spot a bit overwhelming once the season proper starts, but give them another year, and we might be ready to move on a few players.

I can see the beginning of the Gould plan coming through. Too early to get really excited, but our defence was top notch last night.

The first half was our usual, come so very close but fail to score style of play, but that changed when Hayward, O'Neill, and Paps came on.
Suddenly the tries were flowing -and they were quality tries.

I hate to say it, but Mahony was outplayed by our juniors, and we don't lack kicking specialists if Burton is unavailable.

All of the Flegg boys were very impressive. They'll be pushing for FG spots very soon.. The present isn't as bad as some people thought and the future looks brighter than even the biggest pessimist would give the club credit for..
We need to do everything possible not to hold these kids back, otherwise we will lose them like we lost Thurston.

I think that the plan is to retain them, but we shouldn't keep underperformers in first grade while these kids are held back in reserves. That would be an incentive killer.

First grade should be an open competition for the best talent, to keep everyone on their toes.

We have the talent to push also rans out of the top grade, as long as we don't blood the young pups too early in their careers.

The future looks promising.

I only saw a highlights video. But we look pretty fluent in attack. I know it wasn't the strongest 17 from Melbourne. But it's got to be good for the team to get a win (even though it's only a trial) straight from the gate.
It was our defence that was the standout.

The Storm couldn't get out of their own half for most of the game, and we were not penalised for hold downs or inside the ten. The Dogs kept up a pace that exhausted some Storm players.

We looked super fit, keen, and ready.

If we'd had our kicking boots on, the score would have been 30 or more.

Happy we won. Lots of the new boys went well!

Burton....hmmmm
Mahoney.......Younger bloke looked better!
Knight...... Hopefully just one of those nights!

Not getting a fat yet tho..... we only beat a B/C grade storm team.
True, but we were also without Kikau, Chrichton, Kiraz, JAC, Curran, Tracey.

Plus we still have others like Woods, Marshall etc to come into the mix in the next few years.. Hopefully we keep as many of them as possible and they can help us become a consistent contender in the next few years..
Fuck me, I baulked when you mentioned Woods, I think I have PTSD.

Definitely some real positives to take from the game. I thought Fa'amusili and Koutoga were real surprises. They stood out in our pack, and are 2 players no one is really expecting much from.
Skelton was great coming out of our end, and I honestly rate him more then Kiraz. Such a powerful ball carrier.
Salmon also really surprised me. He looked great playing that link man role, and was solid in defense as well.
All of our Flegg boys showed immense promise too, and the future looks extremely bright for the club!!

It's great to see the kids shine. Gus in full effect with the juniors coming through. Todd looked really good in a position wet are desperate for. O'Neill reminds of James Maloney, let's hope so anyway!

Papali'i, O'Neil, Haywood and Todd were outstanding. I want to see Papali'i start next week at fullback Jack Todd cannot develop soon enough, he has to start the year as a starting prop in NSW Cup.
yes so good to see the young guys get a chance and really do well.

You'd like to think so, but with our recent history of fucking our roster and letting good juniors go, you can understand the concern

I said it while back, Joash is my smoking for the fb role come round 1. Probably won't start the year, but he will be putting plenty of pressure on those in front of him!!
