We can never build momentum because we are constantly being reffed out of the contest. Unless it's an obvious penalty (crusher) we don't get anything.

They can take our full back out in the air and get the ball no issues, we do it and we're immediately penalised

Do you mean like the points we’d get from the disallowed try? They clearly got almost every call tonight go their way. It is reasonable to think that would have an adverse impact on our ability to attack. I don’t like blaming refs, but there is clearly a bias that when in doubt, the refs assume we f!!ked up. Much easier to go along with everyone’s expectations. Our team currently needs a fair shake to compete, and we aren’t getting it. When was the last game you can remember us getting some luck?
The Sharks had a player sin binned, and that's the only time we scored. Our attack is simply poor, the ref has no part in that fact.

Despite multiple dubious calls we still had 5 penalties a piece.

Ciraldo also didn't even use all of his interchanges so fatigue is not an excuse.

I know people say don’t blame the referee. But deadset tonight cruelled us and you can’t change my mind.

-Kikau No try. That’s a try everyday of the week. As if Trindall js stopping Kiks. 12-0 instead of 6-0 when Nikora comes back on is massive.

-Nikora sin bin. Firstly, how was that missed? Secondly, that’s a send off. Should have been off.

-Ramien obstruction. He was still able to contest with Taffe. 5 mins later Kiraz got blatantly taken out, no penalty, nothing said.

-Sharks first try was a forward pass from the ruck.

-Sharks 3rd try wasn’t a try, Talaki dropped it cold.

-There was also a play when Mulitalo grubbered back inside and Mahoney knocked it dead, replays showed Williams from Cronulla knocked it on, yet they got a drop out.

The club needs to honestly speak up about it. We busted our arses and should been closer then what it was. We don’t get 50/50 calls, hell we don’t even get the 90/10 calls.
I get angrier every time i read it. Im gunna have a few drinks with my neighbour the dopey panfer supporter just so i can punch the **** in the head. Im fkn angry aF

Not once in the history of nrl have I ever seen let alone heard of a try not being awarded because the ref was in the way. What an absolute joke
Its happened before but not in those circumstances where a try 100% was going ti be scored

We got grinded to a pulp and leaked points in the final 20 minutes. That is totally on us regardless of how bad the ref was.
To be expected. Sharks are a well drilled team, who know each other. They had big units up against our smaller forwards, and never dropped a ball or missed a kick. They also got the repeat sets when they needed them.

I thought that we were pretty good.

Crossed their line three times, but denied twice.

Had their measure for most of the game, and we are still a work in progress against a top side playing at home.

The ball never bounces our way.

Effort is synonymous with a club at the bottom of the table. Top teams give effort everyweek as it’s expected. It implies we didn’t try the previous weeks and that’s not good enough
Yep… effort is one of the first things a first grade side must have no matter what right? Applauding effort is embarrassing. We ain’t a u12s team.

That Kikau no try was an absolute rort
Sharks player ran past the ref, expecting the ball to go out to the wing. When it came inside, he had to change direction. Still got to Kickau, who was already claimed, and couldn't stop him.

I thought it was OK to use the ref as a shepherd. When did that rule change?

That fucking ref had money on the sharks. Most refs wouldn't even send that up for review.

He missed the Kikau shoulder charge as well only for the bunker to intervene.

I agree, they are a very well drilled team. And yes, our forwards could not match them for the full 80, so we need to add some starch, but we know that. Our backs had to do a ridiculous amount of work to compensate, which sapped them as well.

But we need to be more clinical in attack when we have good ball, that first half should have ended with us 18-6 up, but lack of execution cost us.

At the end of the day we are still averaging 4 conceeded tries a game, the same as last year. So improvement is yet to be seen on the scoreboard, I think we were performing to a similar level in defence early last year, before the effort levels dropped off. Mahoney was a prime example of that.

We looked competitive for team that is still finding its way.

Up against two top sides at their home grounds. They were bigger units, well drilled, who have played together for some time.

Last year, we would have conceded 40+ in both games.

We'll get there. I don't know what some fans expect.

I think we can win some games as the team settles into its stride.
