Gus has been lowering expectations for the past two years for a reason he knows the craphole we are at the moment. Even at the start of the year where people had us as a top 8 chance Gus knew we were off the pace

Confirms he will get first crack at the no 1 so is Blake Taffe a half?
Taaffe was always brought in with the intent of being a bench player or a versatile backup in case of injuries.

"no development program at the Bulldogs until the last 12 months"

lol talk about shambles of a club, Gus and the staff have had to start the development from scratch.
Is this actually true though? Like who can actually fact check Gus on it. Could be an easy excuse for him.

He said what I've been saying for a while though that there's very little on the market to buy because of the 17th team, increased cap and teams having more money to re-sign their key players.

As Gus said, add to that no lower grades for a few years due to Covid fucking player development and it means there's very little out there worth buying even if you have cap space to spend.

Well look at how many players between 2010 to 2012 were in the Bulldogs system and made the move to first grade successfully.

That's our luck, we have money to spend but nobody to spend it on.

Gus spewed out the same bullshit over and over. Not much confidence in him or our team for 2024...

So our salary cap was out of whack he claims… yet didn’t he spend $$$$ on flops like Sutton, Nu Brown, Reynolds, and that idiot from manly that left us mid season

I said it in a post the other day… we were crying out for Props/Forwards since Covid FFS when we had to ask Raiders for 2 players and that was over 2yrs ago… and here we are, in the same boat

Yeah I heard that bigger job than he thought with external influence thrown in covid 17 teams big money
Will only get worse with an 18th team coming. There’s also been a huge drop in NRL standard players makes decent players look like worldbeaters

For sure. Worst timing ever. The plan was always to build as much cap space as possible after years of being cap fucked and when we do they add another team and raise the cap massively so no quality players are available for years.

Look across the comp and you could name on one hand how many good rep calibre players are changing clubs next year
