Both tries he scored against the Dragons he was standing at wing (first try he only had TPJ outside him). His go seems to be running around the defence. He's definitely a finisher. Average at taking tough carries though.

Kiraz is more suited to tough carries but he's more suited to centre in a way because he can break tackles from anywhere and he has an offload. More of a creator.

Centre he gets early ball so I can see why he’s there. Would be a great winger too and shown he can manage fullback

In his first season in first grade he played his best game plying wing,
Finally the young brigade from the last few years get a proper coach...Look at the difference !!!

Yesterday Burns and Averillo swapped between centre and wing.

Defensively Averillo was playing centre. In attack he was on the wing a lot. I think Averillo’s problem at fullback was handling the high ball. On the wing he still has to defuse bombs.

When attacking though his pace is great on the wing.

You guys still don't get it lol.

Averillo's primary role when working the ball out from our end isn't to take the tough carries but to hold his width so we can counter compressed defensive lines. Too many think he's being lazy but this is a deliberate tactic from Ciraldo and exactly why he partners Averillo with a powerful winger that can produce 20+ runs a game and offload the football. He has done this all season and last night we just happened to get three game changing results form it, the two tries and the chip over the top from Reynolds when we were burried on our goal line.

Right now Averillo leads the club for try assists, line breaks and line break assists while also being second for tries and this is exactly why Ciraldo keeps talking about getting Averillo more ball.

Definitely struggles with tough carries and some arm grabbing in defence yesterday but his speed may be best suited to the wing - not sure what he’d be like with the kick to the corners - could get found out?

If he had a singular capable half in his career, with locks and second rowers who run decoys correctly we could have utilised his speed more often. Instead he’s had Burton and Flanno ruining any chances of a line break.

This forum has an eternal hard on for tough carries out of the 20m. Criticise someone like Slowamoti and Okunbur for being shit and it’s always “tOuGh cArRiEs”

Not just this forum but a few no-name coaches like Cleary and Bellamy, just go and look at the data of their back 5’s.

With the tactic of kicking deep into corners coming into play over the last few years and trapping your centre/winger in a corner and your forwards still retreating, if your back 5 can’t make a tough carry, you’re cooked!

You bag Alamoti but go and watch the replay and see the Dragons kick 9/10 times for that corner, hoping to get an error from him, he loves a tOuGh CarRy;)

100%...great call and well observed. Avo is a very important part to the way we play.

On another note, I’m not a big fan of Perham but he was very involved yesterday, did the hard yards and dirty work.

Not sure he is a winger - wingers need to be the best under the high ball and be able to take the tough carry's out of your own 20. I don't think these are Averillo strengths. He playing decent at centre let's leave him there for now. He has earnt the right to nail down a position

He has great utility value, but focussing on the backline, he has attributes/talents which make him a strength in any position really.

FULLBACK: Ball playing ability, utilising acceleration to break the line.

WING: Utilising pace and acceleration to get past opposing wingers.

CENTRE: Utilising size to attract defence, and late offload to put winger into space.

Question.

Where do you see him with Xerri and Crichton coming into the fray next season
