We are still a bottom end club. We had to pay overs. Anyone who thinks It ain’t overs come on
Overs would imply we're bidding against ourselves and no other club would pay that much.

Burton wouldn't sign a contract for less with us or another club. He made Origin, was up there amongst the leaders in try assists on a 12th placed team, and is one of the best young players in the comp. He's already on 500k. 750k with the cap going up after he made Origin isn't an absurd increase.

Why? He made Origin and killed it in Origin. That drives his price up. Yes he has things to improve on in his game, but 16 other clubs would pay that much or more for him, especially considering the lack of halves available and the cap going up.

90% of the players in the league probably aren't worth what they're on. If the market dictates that's what he's worth, then that's what he's worth whether you or others agree or not.
He didn't kill it and he played centre

Like Galza said we got him for a good price. If he doesn’t live up to his potential at least it hasn’t crippled our cap. If he does live up to his potential and helps us win games then it’s a bargain. Only time will tell.

I don’t think Burton would be a starting 6 at any top 8 side. At the present that’s the sad reality.
I take him over Luai (although his combo with Cleary is great and is why they chose him over burto), Moylan, Dearden. Rabbits would probably shift Walker to halfback to accommodate for Burto

Stop trying to convert him. He’s a hater because it’s not Jake getting the accolades

He did in game 2. Tonnes of players have played out of position in Origin. Daley and Fittler played centres in Origin. Joey played hooker. Craig Gower played hooker. Turbo, Wighton in the centres etc..
You missed the point entirely. He played CENTRE, not 5/8. He barely makes the top 10 5/8's in the game.

I didn't miss the point.. He played 5/8th the whole season at club level and had 14 try assists on a shocking team. He had more than Luai, 4 more than Jahrome Hughes, 1 less than Munster and 2 less than Dylan Brown. Not bad for someone who you and others think isn't a good 5/8th. He's a half. Not a centre. Not a fullback.

Surround him with better players like Mahoney and Kikau and he will only improve.

They signed Hynes @ 600k per season who's better.
If the Dogs signed Hynes instead of Burton we would have won more games & TBaz would still be coach because Hynes can steer a team around the field instead of all the try scoring opportunities missed all season by our current halves.

Be more of a hater.
Or you know stop riding his dick so hard. He's a good young player that has plenty to work on and isn't worth anywhere near what we're going to be paying him. Watch Kikau absolutely cop it next year because Burton feeds him garbage all season because he doesn't know how to play into the line.

I hate paying a shitload on potential, but we have no choice. I just hope he starts to run more and learns to pass, or cop a hit when the pass isn't on instead of dud hospital passes
He might run more and have more room to pass with a decent 7 inside.
Opposition targets him because we have no other playmaker.
We are paying a 7 a shitload (for him) that has no potential.
