This is more a reflection on the mess at the Dogs than Gus..

Gus has always been a Canterbury supporter and has advised many a young recruit to come to us, even when he was working for other clubs. In this instance he's just telling the truth.

It would pain him that the Dogs are in this mess.

Kudos to Barrett for displaying his commitment, that's a great sign.

I didn't hate him.
I recall when literally everyone else was sticking the boot in over the salary cap rort, Gus defended us.
He pointed out we didn't go over the cap by paying overs and buying talent.
That we developed our own talent and chose to pay them overs.
He pointed out our squad wasn't an over the cap level squad
That many of our players were being paid way overs their market value.

Gus defended us when no one else would.
