I like data. Data makes things easier to see clearly. So here are the season by season coaching records for each available coach who is worth mentioning. You can click on the seasons in the data to show you how the year played out.
Shane Flanagan.
Pepitide Ban
Emailing players during his suspension ban.
I like this record. He took over a very poor Ricky Stuart coached team, and year by year built them up. Note the Sharks won a wooden spoon in the years he wasn't coaching them (2014)
Overall Record
Josh Morris
Took over Shanes' team. They played well, but were never a real contender. And then spat the dummy cause they were looking for other coaches cause even the Sharks realised they were headed on a downwards spiral. A no in my book
Overall Record
Paul Green
THis data doesn't tell the full story. Neil Henry had been coaching the Cowboys and had that team in the semi's each year for the past 3 years. After taking them from bottom of the table. Paul Green was able to put the icing on top. But when he needed to rebuild the team after Thurston left, well the stats tell the story.
Overall Record
Cameron Ciraldo
Only coached the 8 games. Taking a red hot Panthers from 4th to 6th on the table.
Overall Record
ASSASSIN
One of the Kennel's own. Highly regarded junior coach with over 40 wins and 3 losses to his name. Able to identify junior talent and communications with supporters will be at an all time high due to the frequency of his postings on the Kennel. I have heard rumours that team list Tuesday will be picked via a poll on this very website and submitted directly to the NRL.
Untested at NRL level.
Other....
As the name suggests, anyone else you think you should get a go. They would want to have a pretty damn record in NSW Cup/QLD Cup/ESL
Some of those who people like to throw around
Shane Wane
Kristian Woolf (Also coached 2 games for Newcastle with one win and one loss)
Geoff Toovey
Walker Brothers (though Ben left, so only Chris is left coaching Ipswich now).
Never finished below 8th on the table. That said, there are only 14 teams. So 8th isn't always good.
Grunthos
Grunthos, a seasoned coach, has shown interest in taking command of the floundering bulldog's team.
He has 20+ years as a rugby and league coach from minis to seniors at school and local club level, and his teams have appeared in five grand finals and won three and his graded teams have NEVER missed a finals series and he believes he has the plan to bring the mighty dogs back to grand-final contention!
As well-credentialed as coach Grunthos is, he won't come cheap, weighing up some surprising six-figure offers from other top-ranked League and Rugby teams both here and abroad all clamouring for his services.
Gus Gould had better have deep pockets to snag the maestro!
Shane Flanagan.
