What's our solution?

For mine

PRIORITY ONE - Bellamy or Gould in a major management role or Wayne Bennett as coach. Why are the Sharks in the conversation for Bellamy but we're not ? If the Sharks are offering him 1.4M we need to offer 1.6. If our board want to turn things around they need a big name with experience who knows what structures to put in place. This is the worst period in our recent history. We need the biggest fix in our recent history.
- Make Peter O'Sullivan an offer he can't refuse to become our recruitment office whenever he can get out of his Warriors contract. Let him hire whoever he wants as his team of scouts.
- Offer best deals to handpicked best juniors available especially in spine positions. Whatever is allowed outside the NRL cap
- Steve Hansen promoted as fulltime assistant coach. We need someone a bit more aggressive. Barrett is like getting coached by your Uncle (too nice and no-one to really fear if you f..k up). Get ex players in also as specialist consultants - ie: Ennis, Anasta, James Graham, even SBW (players will look up to him) Maybe re-hire Dean Pay as defensive coach (he's not doing much is he ?).
- Move on Flanagan, Allen, Waddell, Elliott (on too much money), Hopa (to the Dragons mid season now), and virtually all the players off contract at the end of this year except Ava and Okunbor (I think he'll show he deserves to be retained soon). If we can get $1 extra to spend on someone else after shedding this lot it will be worth it.
- Make an offer they can't refuse to Brandon Smith (and the Storm) and to James-Fisher Harris for 2023 (1.1M). We desperately need a FORWARD LEADER and he's the best in the business at the moment. I would also sign TPJ to give us some X-Factor in attack. Go for Nikau also when he's available.
- Hopefully BBO becomes our halfback of the future
- I would have suggested we throw ridiculous money at Papenhuyzen also but after reading recent reports he may be too much of a concussion risk unfortunately. Hopefully Allan or Averillo make it at fullback.

There is a saying that the best form of defence is attack and this has never been the case more in the NRL than right now. If we have nothing to offer in attack, if we just keep running one out with settler after settler as we now do (even when on the opposition try line) it's just so easy to defend against us and then in attack our opposition have plenty of energy to throw everything at us in attack. We need a fast attack from fullback to hooker to prop to gas the opposition when defending as the good opposition do to us.

Our guy's think they know better. It's like watching all the Countries state and federal leaders using Covid for political gain instead of tackling it properly to win. I can't see us climbing out of this atm and to be honest I will be gobsmacked if JAC and Burton do end up coming next year regardless of contract's. It's career suicide.

So much of that is totally unrealistic. If you think it’s really that easy to just cut players and give people offers they can’t refuse you’re living in dream land
Give em an offer they can't refuse
After every single **** that was given an offer they couldnt refuse has been cut from their contract early. As if any player mgr will advise their clients to come unless its laat chance

If you tell them they're playing reserve grade for the rest of their contract and they're unwanted, as long as you're paying the right % of their contract to play elsewhere most will go. If we want to pay that right % that's another thing (e.g. with Flanagan you're contributing pretty much everything except close to minimum wage). We need to stop making roster mistakes (choice of players and $ they're on) in the first place.

There is no quick solution to this problem.
Two things we can't do.
1. Get rid of 10 or more players in one off season.
2. Let players go before their contracts have expired and thus pay freight for them to play elsewhere.

We are just going to have to be patient with recruitment and releases and expect a gradual climb up the ladder as we hope a good batch of juniors hit the scene in 2 to 3 years time.

Sliding down the ladder is the easy bit. Climbing back up is difficult.

When we finally get back near the top we need smart management to stay there.

It's very hard to say what can and can't be done unless you're closely involved with the players/managers.

I'd say JAC gets first shot at fullback next year, we have players that can fill 2-5. In terms of the halves unless someone comes off contract I'd see it as Burton and Avo, BBO is just too raw to make that jump. I just can't see any other options for 2022.

I doubt B Smith is even considering us, he is just stringing the club along and loves the attention. Hodgson would be a decent option for a year or two but there's so many conflicting stories about what's going on. I get the feeling we're ending up with Kenny which will be a disaster.

We need some decent forwards. Our best hope is a club is looking to offload someone due to cap pressure, we will have to pay decent coin based on what we've dished up this year.

Other than that Furner needs to go, Peter Sharp needs to be replaced with someone with a real eye for spotting talent. Trent needs a coaching director, someone really experienced in league. Hansen doesn't fit the bill, if Barrett wants to have a chat to him about life he can do that in his own time.

Your last point is the most important one we just have to be so much smarter about roster management. There’s no way you can put together a competitive roster if you’re paying more than a handful of freight on players.

Solutions easy two divisions promotion relegation and a players draft
We'd get relegated and possibly never come back up. That wouldn't be the best thing for us, possibly the game tho.

If we can all sign a petition to make Caveman referees boss - I will fix this mess in one round.

I believe the new NRL boss should come from the Kennel to (any takers?) - I personally don't want the stress, I'd prefer a low stress role where I simply take lots of money from betting agencies and distribute a percentage of that to my loyal ref's.

Barrett exposed his true underpinnings. Makes irrational decisions when angry. Get him a head doctor.

Hang on Steve Hansen went from coaching the greatest rugby team ever to being an assistant coach for the worst NRL team and that's a promotion?
Assistant coaches look after most of the X's and O's these days, hard to ask Hansen to do that when he doesn't have a league background
