Once this season is over, Baz is going to go mental on raiding the Panthers i reckon, they have to resign up to 11 players , their players will demand big money, they need to off load a couple of backs also , they cant keep them all
And if Barrett doesn't do it then there's plenty of other clubs that will raid them.
We are better placed as we have money, cap, and spots available plus these players have a bond with the incoming coach

Nasheed here,
I've done what i do to analyse, critique and think deeply here, and taken the necessary supplements to allow this, and ive concluded Flanagan, is not the answer, despite not looking too bad on the surface.

Heres why.

This year we have lost two experienced campaigners, green and Foran.

Who we have left is Averillo, Wakeman and Lewis. All three are finding their feet in the NRL and suffering.

Flanagan also finding his feet.

And we have a fullback....finding feet too.

We have lost experience and what we desperately need is experience. Foran/Green sated our appetite for some of that but it wasnt enough, especially the injuries these guys gave us.

Flanagan is being punted because the roosters dont want to spend a couple of years developing him. Which is what needs to occur.

Flangan couldnt help the roosters and add nothing, theycouldnt make him look better being in a strong side. Harshly, Flanno dragged them down.

Flanno wasnt also being keenly resigned from cronulla before that.

He also has alot of mistakes ( see here )and no real physical attributes like speed.

This is a disaster waiting to happen

The answer is simply we need to look at chad Townsend.

A more experienced Flanno, with the development done already.

Chad and Burto or Chad and Averillo is the better compostion, something we talk about, sometging ivet alked about a d the bulldogs lack.

let averillo play his gaje and run and Chad steer the ship.

Flanno will be like a virgin nervous how to get that dick wet.
Definitely don't want Chad Townsend, he's average at best and we would have to pay overs to entice him to leave. Would much rather risk the money on a young half who could be better.

Theres a bit of hesitancy with Barrett. He has promised not to steal any Panthers.
He has Hetherington, and now wants Burton. The Panthers will not be pleased.
baz to do whatever it takes to get us back into a competitive team again. If it means to piss the panthers off so be it. Who cares what they think. It’s all about the dogs.

I agree it will be a case of sign him first then Penrith will lose hope of keeping him before letting him go
Agree. Penrith need to just suck it up and let him go. I highly doubt he will want to play lock or hooker. He is an out and out half.

No. What the Panthers want is for him to hang around and see if they can bulk him up and move him to lock. If the Dogs nab him, this will then force there hand. It's not like the Panthers don't have others coming through the ranks in that position as well. If he is getting offered halves money as a prospect, it would be hard to knock back our offer. Especially if he sees a pretty free run to a starting position. At that point it's easy to force a contract break at the club. And Panthers don't really want anyone who doesn't want to play for them, and they will need the cash to secure some of the other talent coming through. Just need his signature first to get the ball rolling. 2 more weeks until we can do anything.
He's on peanuts at Penrith, so it's no big cost to let him rot playing paddock football somewhere. They might think that they will get more benefit from denying another team his talent. They might also think it will discourage other youngsters, and they have a few, from seeking early releases from their contracts. Maybe afraid that letting him go early might set a precedent for others. Plus let Barrett know that there is no easy pickings.

What's this "Flanagan Consolidated Thread" shit?

I demand at least 3 seperate threads so we can jump between each one making the same comments and observations, with different people. It's the only way I'll be able to win an argument ....
Give it until lunchtime. I'm sure some stragglers will find some already posted articles and create some more threads.

Haha well, generally my 'home movies' don't go for very long at all mate so most likely you'll only be sitting down for a minute tops before the credits come up. Will try harder this time though!
For me that's time enough for a striptease, sex and a smoke afterwards. I can multitask though. So being single in this Covid effected world means I work solo. One one of the Palmer sisters can get busy with pleasure, the other can manage the smoke.

The Penrith Panthers intend to hold firm on young gun playmaker Matt Burton remaining at the foot of the mountains until the end of next season.

Burton will become one of the most in-demand playmakers on the open market as of November 1 with Canterbury-Bankstown poised to have a red hot crack at landing his signature for 2022.

The Bulldogs theory is if they sign him for 2022, the Panthers might opt to let him go next season.

The Panthers see it entirely differently. Panthers general manager of football Matt Cameron has crunched the numbers and intends to try and retain Burton and young gun front-rower Spencer Lenui.

Ok lets say we have Burton and Flanagan coming next year, does that mean Avo at Fullback so;

1. Averillo
2. DWZ
3. Cotric
4. Hoppa
5. Meaney/Smith/Okenbor (Meaney/Smith until Okenbor recovers and comes back through Mounties
6. Burton
7. Flanagan

While pretty young and inexperienced, sounds like a pretty potent backline. Not to challenge next year but to get another years experience, playing together for a good shake 22/23

THe first part would be true, if he was going to a club like the Roosters or Melbourne. It wouldn't be in there interests to allow those teams to get better at their expense. But where the Dogs are at, its not likely to suddenly propel our team in the realm of contenders.

As for discouraging other youngsters, well that creates a rod for there own back. Youth may look at see too many roadblocks ahead of them and sign for another club rather than try and force there way into the first grade team. Can't have your cake and eat it too.

As for the cash side of things. I'd rather save it than have a player who is discontent in the training group. That is contagious.

THe easy pickings part? This happens all the time with all clubs. As pointed out earlier, Panthers will have heaps of upgrades contract wise to make. Much easier if you show players that you respect them and there careers even if it's not favourable to you. Respect is a two way street.

Flanagan is being scapegoated for the Roosters lack of depth when it comes to there props and outside backs

Robbo has recruited nothing but back rowers and has neglected there props and outside backs

LOL fuck the Panthers...after what they did to the Tigers with Cleary, they have no right to bitch

Apparently we were after Burton before we signed Baz so they cant blame Baz. Also Hill told the Panthers we were after him

You don't hear Penrith talking about not releasing Crichton or any other player who's off contract next year - it only seems to be Burton, most likely becuase he told them to fuck off with their stupid "convert you into a lock" plans. Its looking good for us

I don't know why people worry about the Barrett thing wit Panther players. He was just giving lip service to get the deal down because he needed a release after Saturday night or Sunday week it's game on.

I just have a feeling we won't get Burton till 2022 if we get him at all. There's no good reason for the Panthers to release him when they are in a premiership window and have a more then capable back up half.

I watch a lot of Chooks games since they're my (distant) second team. Cronk wasn't the main reason they won 2 comps. He was a passenger with that shoulder injury in the 18 GF and it was Keary who led the team and set up the tries to win them the GF. Keary was the main man in the 19 GF as well. Cronk specialises in set plays, bombs and organising the defence. Keary is their guy who creates the tries on instinct and vision and the Chooks don't have another playmaker of his calibre if he's injured or marked heavily by the opposition. Chooks should have won their game against Canberra because that dud call on the head high tackle on Morris should have been a penalty try when they were down by 4 points. It was the turning point of the game. A few tackles later and Canberra score off that lucky bounce. So instead of 16 all or 18-16 to the Chooks it became 22-12 to Canberra. That's a 10 point turnaround in a game with 4 point margin at the end. Flanagan doesn't run to the line or threaten the defence and threw bad passes to the gun backline outside him which lost them momentum at key moments in the game. He passes far too early and it was easy for the opposition defence. He choked under pressure and the Chooks have better options in Lam and co so that's why they're cutting him loose.
They also have the best young half in the whole comp in Sam Walker. Honestly I'd offer Walker a blank cheque to sign for us NOW! Trust me he's that good. Another pre season and Walker is ready, you have to play him. Lachlan Lam is still in reserve as well.
