at the end of the day what he did wasnt illegal but it did lose us a major sponsor unfortunately and unfortunately the nrl deregistered him and we had no other choice but to terminate his contract too. As far as im concerned its at least 50/50. hope they sort it out and he stays with us. He is a massive asset to our pack going forward

Can you explain what you mean by "terminate his contract"?

They had/have no separate employment contracts with us. There is only one contract per player, that's the one registered with the NRL. Multiple contracts are not allowed, that's what Melbourne tried and got busted for, they had 2 contracts per player. One was registered with the NRL the other was the one the players got paid under.

The NRL deregistered their one and only contract and that's the end of it.

Not true. They have a contract with us, which we then run by the nrl and if they agree it be ok, the nrl register it. The thing is, if we didn't terminate their contracts before the nrl de-registered them, they then would be free agents if the nrl registers their contracts again like what just happened. This gives us the power to ultimately decide what we want to do with the players when they are back on our books.

what im saying is the nrl made the dogs decision for them, the dogs couldn't keep them around if they wanted to

We are both probably just playing with words, not actually disagreeing. The NRL actually provides the contract wording, which is all the same, they are on NRL letterhead and titled "NRL Player Contract". All clauses are listed, some can be omitted, but most are mandatory and must be included. The NRL is a signatory on the contract, as is obviously the club and the player. Obviously the player and the club have copies, but the NRL holds the original of the contract, that is the "official" version and what is referred to in the case of any dispute and what is checked against by the NRL auditors (Salary Cap compliance etc).

As I said wording semantics, what is important is we agree, in that reinstating the contracts means that they are contracted to us for the duration of the contract term. Any early release from that requires both parties to agree and the NRL to sign off.

If CHN wants to go to dragons. We will take McInnes or Jayden Sullivan with Billy Britton. Or no deal in my opionion. It’s got to be fair value or the fans are the ones getting robbed. As a fan I want the club to stand up for once. We have lost so much Klemmer, Barba SBW and no return. Lafai is not fair value. He can’t even get a run with the dragons when they where woeful. Poor onfield with no major sponsorship. Won’t attract one if we keep getting reserve graders for internationals
Enough is enough
Sullivan would be an excellent signing, however I see dragons losing him to Souths eventually. We were cashing him before he was extended

The message is sound, it covers all the right areas and says all the right things. Young OK clearly had help, but that's fine, at least there is someone in the joint who gave the right kind of help.
