PAY FACING CHOP
BULLDOGS coach Dean Pay is no certainty to keep his job despite
a recent 12-month contract extension that takes him until the end of 2020.
The Bulldogs officials I have spoken to say they are supporting Pay but refuse to declare his job is 100 per cent safe.
This is a story that could explode in the very near future.
Canterbury have an ordinary roster compared to the premiership heavyweights but Pay was still expected to do better.
Interestingly, there is a Bulldogs board election in February next year and directors are getting nervous about a backlash from members.
We originally thought
axed Sharks coach Shane Flanagan was the man to take over, although this has been strongly denied by chair Lynne Anderson.
The fact Pay might go earlier than expected would rule Flanagan out anyway.
