The standard and style of play has lifted across the competition in recent weeks. Even mediocre clubs with similarly horrible rosters play an aggressive, sharp, fast paced style with speed, skill and gamebreakers all over the park. Even after suffering injuries, other capable and promising players step up seamlessly... Even poorly coached teams play to a certain level that is light years ahead of ours. What does that say about Pay?

Our attack is so side to side and lumbering with unskillful forwards touching the ball more than the halves like Desball. The few players that play aggressive, show real impact, have speed or skill play limited minutes or never get the ball...

The lack of cohesion and awareness throughout the whole team is alarming and like watching a bad under 20's team. Every pass goes behind a player. There are no offloads and there's zero intent and belief.

How much longer will the Andersons accept a team that isn't first grade standard and horribly coached?

Eventually they have to swallow their pride and do the best thing for the club. The longer they leave it, the more time wasted and the more damage done. We're getting left behind by the rest of the competition.

You think Bullfrog always played by the rules? Of course not. I’m not saying we should blatantly cheat but you have to bend rules, find loopholes and explore everything way of maximising the cap. If that means a fine every few years so be it. Sitting back whinging about other clubs and bring the good guy playing by the rules will rule us out of playing finals let alone chasing trophies.

100% I reckon they should do the Vaseline on the legs and arms again but only a tiny smear so eventually the oppositions hands build up with vaso.. Fuck I should be a coach

We stacked that reserve grade team last year and it was nice to win but how many of those players are going to be long term NRL players? It means nothing now.

The reserve grade came in and smashed teams but instead of sitting back and analysing why , the georgallis coached players were handed over to pay and he fucking ruined it

With great respect we still remain the only team stripped of points during a season...after winning 17 in a row in 2002. That experience hurt so much for fans and administrators that the Club has vowed to never again entertain such a salary cap breach to win.
Cronulla breach the cap in 15, 16, 17 and 18 but NRL say 16 doesnt matter and Storm breach it and get 2 premierships taken away after the event which nobody cares...bcoz on the day they were crowned premiers and thats all that matters.
Rorters and Suffs havent been caught, Manly could only win it backending a squad clearly over the cap and Cowboys had Thurston. Nobody else has won it in the last 10 years.
Point is...we cant compete CONSISTENTLY without breaching the cap. Lets not forget we won interstate reserve grade comp last year. I was there to witness it. Were you?

Dogtime you are spot on......unfortunately.. the NRL and everyone knows it, Suffs have their brown paper bag BBQs at 10k cash entry, Rorters have their Real Estate Deals on behalf of their players, Manly through 4th party deals pay the players wives 2k a week rent for houses that the players live in. Nothing will be done about it as its too hard to prove and bad for the image of the game. Its akin to an honest Olympian competing against one who takes enhancement drugs.

Foran is the man. He needs to get off his edge with a couple of edge forwards who can play we will win a few more.

Someone with a clue spot on post they caught us in 02 it caused so much grief we vowed to never do it again but the nrl also vowed to not cause so much grief again now they turn a blind eye

I've wondered lately whether or not Steve got a promotion from reserve grade wining team to a demotion in a FG wooden spoon team and what he thinks on it? He had that team playing well last year.

I agree that he sacrifices great attacking player's with slight defensive issues for better defensive players.. the balance is all wrong.. there was zero second phase yesterday.. not that it matters really because when there is second phase no one is ready for it anyway..

There are a number of players in the side who aren't ready for fg and could have used more time in the lower grades. But Pays forced to play them. And hes only got inexperienced players to replace them with. So it is what it is this year.

Our pack has been unbalanced for years . At the start of the year I posted we will go ok . We will play fast n flat . We have have in patches. Our current pack lacks skills and all offer the same . Than we have king who can pass but overs FA. Watch lichaa In reserve grade. The kid can play . Has the variety around the ruck to trouble teams, but lacks the polish on his game . The player coaching , skill development at the club has been piss poor for years.

The other factor I have noticed is the amount of players who seemed ordinary at our club who have gone on and played well at other clubs. So many amongst other teams line ups who were with us but are doing better somewhere else.....why is that?

What people forget when they make the "new players/roster" excuse is the fact that these players have been playing the game since they were little shits at 5 years old (mostly).

Dumb things like dropping the ball or rushing into the middle as a winger simply should not happen at the rate it is. I feel pay has no accountability for himself or his players. When have you seen our team target a weakness, and fix it under pay? Why drop rhyse martin and not Okunshit?

Where is our attacking structure? Its non-existent. Throw it to forwards, crab run and hope for the best. Sure, our roster is not finals quality, but it is clear we have no strategy. We could be doing way better. We could have easily won the manly game, 2 defensive errors lost us the game. Same with knights, C.Smith had a certain try, bombed it. Thats 2 wins, moving us up to 10th.

All these "stop being negative" idiots clearly know jack shit about footy and are looking at this problem from an emotional fans view. Anyone who knows their footy will instantly see our structure is non existent, and that has NOTHING to do with our roster, and everything to do with pay.

Still competitive for a new nuts and bolts team with plenty of youth, other clubs rookies grow into stars with individual brilliance but ours take longer.

When Pay knew he was losing the Morris boys he decided to go out and buy Crighton and rely on a bloke that had double ankle surgery and no pre season whose best footy was played on the opposite side of the field.… After dropping Crighton and Holland, he shoots for the stars and plays a rookie winger whose been playing on the wing in reggies for half a season. If that doesn't tell u his a ridiculously shit coach then nothing will. Fukn over this gronk of a coach who has no idea how to run a footy team.

Stuff like that gives you no confidence that he’s going to do any better with more money to spend or a better squad. It’s going to be a repeat of Brown at Newcastle where they hide behind the rebuild excuse and he gets a free ride for 2 or 3 seasons before being badly exposed.

I understand that they weren't available. Pay never went with that pack anyway. Toomaga n rfm got injured in reserves. They should be in 1st grade. If he is playing guts for 8 min off the bench they toomaga can do that for a taste.
