Did I miss something?

For the opening 20 Manly were smashing us up the middle and Kapow had already ran for 100

Ogden comes on and runs us back into an even arm wrestle and troubles Manly pack

Pay takes him off after 13 mins and puts Napa who just back from ankle injury back on (4 weeks off injured)

Next he takes our skipper off and puts on Elliott

Fualolo finally on second half immediately makes impact then he’s off again

Ogden finally second stint

Manly are busted, on the ropes with 20 left and any other coach brings on fresh legs particularly a running hooker like Brown when we have momentum

Nup brings him on 9 left no momentum

Said it before Pay lacks any in game awareness and does not proactively make the right moves

Like a game of chess you need to be a couple steps ahead

Des out coached him but not a surprise, actually it is because Manly are depleted

If fualalo continues to play like that I'm happy with our forwards moving forward

Tolman
Napa
Fualalo
Ogden
Renouf

Now we just need a coach who can inter change them properly

He had decided pre game how he is
Going to work the interchange and basically refused to adapt to the situation. Sign of a coach who has absolutely zero idea about football bar a few X and Y plays and instructing players to kick on the 4th

First thing I'll say, is I'm no expert on how we should use a bench.

That said, I 100 percent know Pay doesn't as well LOL.

Did none of you see Ogden blowing hard before he was subbed ? Couldn’t even make it back into the defensive line.

That kick early tactic only good when you don’t gift them 7 tackles

But our chase was slow so that tactic should have been shelved

You are right. Pre meditated substitutions

9 mins for Brown v a Manly pack late in the game hanging on for dear life

Nope

But I saw Tolman blowing just before he dropped a clean offload from Holland

There isn’t a team in the NRL his bench rotation will work against. Every team has monster forwards and playing your two biggest boys for limited minutes will always lose out

I saw it. He was fine though. You don't go from starting one week and tired in 10 minutes the next.

Pay is terrible with our bench.

In the early 2000’s almost every club was using an impact Hooker off the bench against tired forwards. When did this tactic fall out of favour? Especially now with even more tired forwards? And don’t say it’s because our forwards need more rotation because we’ve got 4 guys in our starting pack that can play 80

We basically give opposition teams a leg up each week because effectively we only use 16 players

To me it looks like Pay has his 13 players plus Elliot he trusts.

His rotations are just to give them a rest and he gets them back on.

He doesn't actually have a plan.

It most definitely looks that way

He needs to wake the fk up and realise it’s a 17 man game in this day and age

Not like the 80/90s

His rotations have always been all over the place. Ogden was great in limited minutes again. He needs more minutes. He's the only one carrying defenders with him in his runs and capable of breaking tackles out of our props.

The players were fatter and bigger impact because the interchanges were upwards of 14-16. They legit played 10
Minute stints 4 times a game and hookers could expose how
Slow they were. These days even the biggest and fattest forward is 10x as fit as the big men from the 2000s

Pays forward rotation would have been exposed against the cowboys if Taumalolo played. Probably the only pack we have had it over. Maybe the titans if we are lucky

So why carry an attacking hooker on the bench at all? Even the storm who have the best hooker in the world give their bench utility game time.
